Boring?
I just started playing and it seems a little boring. Someone told me it's good after about ten hours. Is that true? Should I give up? Or is it tremendous soon? Thanks!

The Prologue and Act 1 are considered the worst parts of the game which I agree with.

However, don't play something that doesn't interest you. Skip to The Witcher 2 if you want.

Okay. I will try to play. Thanks. I really want to get into the story because I want to play The Witcher 3 when it comes out.

The beginning wasn't the best, but I love it now and am glad I was able to stick with it through the first few hours.

i have over 100 hrs in on this game and i love it..you get to know the characters like zoltan and dandelion.i love the party in grandmas house..in fact i luv grandma with her big wort stuck on her face.the game itself gets better has you go along and it is worthwhile but you have to listen to the story of the game.

I just finished chapter 1. Entering into chapter 2. Very much a game cliché at the beginning of chapter 2, but whatever. Anyways, I enjoyed chapter 1. Had some interesting storytelling as you got further along (i did find it a bit boring at first too though).

What cliché was that?

I'm mixed on this game. At times, yes, it's very boring. At other times, it feels rich and clever, in terms of how much attention you have to pay to the game world and your journal entries. From that perspective, it does feel different than the usual RPG faire these days, and I guess is what ultimately compels me to keep playing. It's definitely a mixed bag, but the good parts are interesting, if scattered.

I love this game too, just finished it for the first time cause I had trouble "getting into it" previously. Now it's probably one of my favorite RPG's ever, up there with SW:KOTOR and Dark Souls.

It's just I found a lot of design decisions kinda frustrating. Like all the fetch quests and the fact that NPC's "reallistically move around the world" which leads to trouble pointlessly running around back and forth that just wastes time. At that point I don't feel like "oh my god, I'm so immersed into the world, NPC's are so dynamic" but more like "wtf, this is so annoying". And overall, lots of running back and forth that got kinda old. The combat system didn't offer options in playstyle choices, I can't imagine playing any differently the next time I start up the game. You just upgrade your talents and play the same way. Also, incredible lack of armors and variety of gear, you just get the starting armor, the 5000 costing same looking armor and then Raven suit which you get to enjoy for like 1 hour and then final boss starts. And don't get me started on the talent system, "group/fast/strong" steel and silver? Really? Wtf is the point?
Also Act 3 is stretched out far too much for no reason and payoff is kinda meh, especially since the quest line seems bugged if you don't do it in a specific way.

Despite all those complaints I really loved this game, the story and dialogue were great, I loved the lore, did all the side quests I found and talked to all the characters. Truly one of the best RPG's ever made. A bit of a diamond in the rough though. I'm gonna start up Witcher 2 soon, hopefully they fixed some of the problems.
