I thought the endings were some of the best I've ever seen, and a lot of the writing was superb, but the actual gameplay is just passable.

Do not buy, this game has some of the worst controls of any game on the market and won't work with most gamepads, even most 360 ones though they say they support them. This was a complete waste of money.

game story is brilliant.combat is not brilliant but not the worst i've seen..i bought it and it was worth the money i paid for it.best take a look at some you tube vids..but i have to say i love the character Mors.

Worked perfectly fine for me, can't remember if I played with 360 or mouse and keyboard though.

i'm currently playing with a 360 pad and works fine.. and about the fighting is decent even if not spectacular, even the graphic are quite good (with the exception of some low textures) but this title really shine in the writing and, so far, in the story.. if you loved the show or are looking for good story-driven rpg this is surely worth your time.. probably most of the people who complain about this game are idiots who where expecting some kind of skyrim located in westeros..

I've bought the game and have been hooked since. People complain about the combat but it's really alot similair to the Dragon Age series and personally I don't find it boring. I play with mouse and keyboard and controls haven't been a problem to me. The graphics aren't the best, but not bad. The story and voice acting is very well done. One thing that is a must is using the FOV fix, but there's an easy and clear guide on the game's community guide board that tells you how to. In my opinion for the current discounted price the special edition is a steal. If you're a fan of the book/tv series you'll most likely at least enjoy the story.

After playing about 22minutes I had seen enough and uninstalled the game.
The sound/graphics and even story seem good. But the terrible control and fight system scared me away. When you fight you need to choose different attacks/defend by pressing keys with a mouse and well it is a major turn off.. Why not just let us hack and clash our self like example " mount of blace" it is fun.
I did also not like the camera angle but I could live with it.
Lucky I bought the special offer and only spend like 9 euro but I wish I did not buy the game.
Actual I wish there was a way I could delete it from steam or hide it so I never see it again in the list of games..
If people like xbox controlers and such games then you might like it... watch some youtube videos before you buy to checkout some gameplay videos.

I just got this, it has dodgy voice acting, relatively ugly graphics and a complicated combat system but all that asside its quite enjoyable so far

You are saying do not buy because it doesn't work on a gamepad? Is that the primary criteria you judge games on? >.<

Because it isn't "hack and slash" you want it deleted off your steam library? I am glad the critical posts are providing insights into perspective.

Do you basically fight your way to the next cutscene? Is there some freedom to explore the game world at all? Rpg elements were primarily combat boost stats? I'll look up a gameplay vid, but any answers would help me determine whether or not to bite. And or how long to get through story roughly?

The story is 30 hours. You can explore the enviorments. The world map is open but it's pretty obvious where you have to go. You can't walk from the wall to kings landing like it was skyrim, you just fast travel.

I checked a couple vids. The combat/controlls seem very dragon agey as mentioned which is not a bad thing to me. Apart from two people saying the game is garbage and ruined because it doesn't have the combat they want and because the controlls are potentially awkward, it seems quite appealing.
