Not worth the time or money...
The Bad:
1) Mouse look lag is killing any enjoyment I was getting out of this game, once you get into crowded areas. It is not my machine it is top of the line with more than enough to handle this game.

2) The combat is boring, I mean really boring. Hitting space to pause the game basically and then queuing up a few special attacks and then watching this play out is not fun at all. It is not real time combat, it is frankly not at all enjoyable and even the animations are too fast to actually watch... so don't see much point you just watch the life meters. Major fun there....

3) Animations during dialogue are limited, disjointed, and you watch all the characters strike the same hand on hip pose a dozen times each. Very lame.

4) Love the books, have for years, love the show (great adaptation), had high hopes for this game but I am not feeling it.

5) Very Linear.

The good:
1) The story was the only thing keeping me interested, the two POVs are interesting, and the characters different enough to keep me engaged but with the mouse look lag issue many have (including myself) I cant even enjoy the story without hours of changing direction and bouncing into walls aimlessly.

The end result? Give this game a pass, even at $19.99 it is not worth your time.

(IF ANYONE KNOWS A FIX FOR MOUSELOOK LAG IN THIS GAME PLEASE LET ME KNOW)

Well you clearly don't get the point of the game.
1. It's story-oriented. The main cause to play this game is to expand lore story.
2. Battles aren't boring until you play it on easy difficulty. They're competitive enough.
3. I'll look into that mouselook lag. Can you tell something else on the topic? I've never had that.

"you clearly don't get the point of the game" This is the kind of condescending remark that does no good for anyone, it makes you look pompous and it just puts me on the defensive. I get the point just fine, I am a lore hound, I am in fact a rabid fan of both George RR Martin and this genre of gaming. My not enjoying this particular game has nothing to do with not getting it and everything to do with the fact that the game is terrible.

I like the story and the lore aspects of it, even if some of it is hamfisted and elementary in writing style and presentation. (The Noooooooooooooooo!!!! Moment to name just one that made me chortle). That said, if you read what I wrote I indicated clearly I cant even enjoy the story (and therefore lore) because of some major bugs. CURRENTLY I am just dealing with mouse look lag, after trying every fix suggested online and by official sources to this known issue. I am currently at a point where I can not advance in the game because of another bug. So please don't condescend to me.

The current issue is if you get to the part of the story where you have to control Mors dog in the basement and you have a weapon equiped in slot 2 that does not work with frenzy you cant attack. Something that really should have been caught in beta testing or fixed this far into release. Brilliant game so far...

I see.
I've never had this bug triggered because I don't use two weapons for Mors, just a two-handed sword. When I try equipping something else, aye, there you go.

As for the mouse bug... My buddy caught that aswell. Installing the most up-to-date drivers for his old and trusty A4 Tech XL-740K mouse worked though.

Thanks for the feedback, I was able to cut down on the mouse lag a little bit using a tip I found online in another forum but it can still be pretty bad. Glad your buddy got his issue fixed though.

I think I am in toruble in terms of the Mords dog part/inventory bug/restriction, which in part is my bad I guess should have had more than 4 saves alternating. I can go back quite a bit in the story, start over, or just give up as I can not find a work around for the multiple weapon issue. I just never anticipated it being a problem or I would not have equipped it.

Not the end of the world of course, but going back so far in game play can just feel like time wasted. Especially when the strength in the game is the story in my opinion not the game play.

1) The game isn't "Bad" because your mouse lags.
2) The combat can be easy (i.e. boring) or as deep and difficult as you like.
3) It's not a cgi movie so you're going to get some repetitive animations.
4) Preconception kills. ;)
5) It's linear, not "very" linear. If you didn't have a fast travel system I would agree though.

If I had anything negative to say it would be about the dlc...the "Beyond the Wall" dlc was extremely short. I finished it in 45 minutes.

I never heard of Game of Thrones before this game, so I had no expectations, and that may have contributed to my positive experience. I also use a controller, so my control/combat experience has been rather enjoyable too. Overall, I liked this game and it is one of my favorites.

Enjoying it for what is is

Yes actually a game IS bad because of mouse lag if it prevents you from playing and the problem is caused by YOUR code and not the users rig. If bugs in the game prevent it from being enjoyed, that is a bad game and that is not even a matter of opinion. If you make a product that does not work as intended or advertised and sell it, you are misrepresenting your product. If hundreds if not thousands of customers report this and you fail to take action it is in fact on you as a producer. Games go live with bugs, it happens. Failing to fix them that is the "crime". Pushing out a game with known bugs that prevent you from playing is kind of like theft to me. I am glad others have not had a negative or as negative an experience in every case.

Even above a fellow player of the game had no issues, but his friend did... 50/50 chance of having horrible mouse lag that causes you to rubberband around a room for minutes before it stops is not a playable game.

Enjoy it though if you can you lot. The lore is amazing...

Sophistry. Besides, it's not MY code, so stop yelling at me ;)

I'm sure there is a way to fix your problem without fixing code - it can be very frustrating to find the solution.

I finished the game, including the expansion, and it was great fun!

Trust me I work in IT I have been trying to fix this with out of the box solutions from the start. Well, after finding no help on the official forums but lots of complaints about the same problem ;)

Glad you enjoyed it and no yelling here, just an unhappy customer who loves the source material but has found enough bugs to make the game bothersome including one which is a complete game stopper. I again am thrilled that others have not had the problems I have had (a lot have check the forums and the internet for reviews) I want people to enjoy their games.

As someone who just had their LP killed because of a ridiculously hard end boss fight on EASY mode, I assure you the battles are boring and awkward because of the camera angle and old rpg style of stand still and swing.

The story is great, but even on hard mode the battles are not challenging, they are just ridiculously hard when you have limited....VERY LIMITED forms of healing damage.
Getting your ♥♥♥ kicked every other fight is not hard or challenging, its stupid.
There is hard and there is stupid, this game adopted the stupid stance on what "difficult" combat means.

I was having a ball running through this on easy mode wearing mors and alester's original outfits, they look awesome....now I am trying for the 16th ♥♥♥♥ing time to kill one of the end bosses as a 2 handed sword mors. I have decent gear (Had to change it) and can not walk out to refresh my potions (3 poppy milks for 900hp is all I have).

I won't be recommending the game because of this, its frustrating and just rips the joy out of the game and I have to constantly ask myself how the ♥♥♥♥ did that fight get through QA.

I would almost welcome the mouse bug if it meant my game did not come to a crashing halt due to poor balancing.

I say its not worth the money due to the sour taste it will leave in your mouth if you make the wrong character class decisions.

I think you are just terrible at this game/games in general. The game is not hard it is not an easy borefest either though. It is challenging and fun! I never had a single problem with difficulty or bugs/combat.. also if you make poor character class deicisions that is your fault maybe you should read a little and understand what each ability does and what the requirements are for it.

Mouse lag is very annoying, but I like the game very much. Combat is engaging enough, but the main point is the story.

I don't know about mouse lag as Im using a wired 360 controller w/o a problem and game seems quite good so far.
Smoker Oct 10, 2013 @ 10:17pm
Mouse lag is cause by vsync on some drivers.

yeah, when I had a cheap gpu Asus 430 couldn't use vsynch, but upgraded to a Nvidia 650 and can use vynch.
