does combat get better?
i really, really want to get into the game, but both times i've tried to start, i've been immediately put off by the loose, floaty, boring combat. i haven't played much of the game but really dont think i want to commit if it doesnt improve at some point. what do y'all think?

Not your type of game, then.

The combat is not really a strong point of this game. But it does improve later in the game because you have more characters and enemies in a battle and also more abilities. So it becomes a bit more tactical. I dont think its as good as dragon age or something but it does progress nicely. I think the combat is meant to be in service of the story and exploring the environments and is not what makes the game above average. Its the story and dialogs that make this game good for me.

yeah, thats the only reason i gave it a chance really, big fan of both books and show. and had heard that the story was well eworth checking out, i WILL give it another go son, just power through the combat i guess! you mentioned environment exploration, how much does that factor into the game, or is it quite linear? not really fussed either way though
