Game Crashing at Start
So I'm really ridiculous when it comes to this sort of computer business. I'd like to consider myself tech savvy but anyway. I just got Colour Bind last night and I've been trying to play it, but to no avail. When the game crashes when I try to boot it up, this is the error message I get.

This is what I'm looking at and while I wish I could understand this... I don't. I've tried googling and doing all of the troubleshooting (editing the registry, repair files, delete everything and reinstall etc etc) on the website and I thought I'd ask here before reaching out to Steam Support separately in hopes they can help me. If anyone is willing to help, I can provide what other details you'd need. In my search, (please correct me if I'm wrong here) I saw that this might be a problem due to my computer specs? But I'm able to run audiosurf and Portal with no problems at all. I was also able to get a screen cap of the run screen ( http://i.imgur.com/Zxjjg.png - please pay no mind to my ridiculous desktop, unless you like it ) if that helps at all.

I was just super excited about finally getting to play this and this happens. Thanks for the help or pointing me in the right direction of where I need to go.

There's really no one who will help me out? I've contacted both steam and the developer and no one wants to help me. I saw similar issues with people trying to play Scribblenauts Unlimited and apparently it has something to do with an integrated chipset. All I want to do is play this game, guys. No one wants to help me? :\

Ahh I'm sorry, Lauren! I thought someone from the publisher was getting in touch with you about this, but apparently they didn't. :(

That said, if you haven't given up on us, here are some things to try. The big one is updating your graphics drivers - I believe this can be done through Steam these days, if you go to the Steam menu and select 'check for video driver updates'.

The other things that might make things stable are some tweaks in a file called config.txt. It's in the game's directory, the location of which depends on where Steam is installed, but it's probably something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\colourbind. The second line of config.txt should be 'fullscreen' by default, but changing it to 'windowed' and rerunning the game might help. Music has also been known to mess things up on occasion, so changing the last line from 'Music enabled' to 'Music disabled' might also help.

If none of that helps, unfortunately, it might be the 'integrated chipset' thing that you mentioned. If that's the case, unfortunately that's just our fault for not being able to test it on all such cards, and it might not be solvable. If it's just not possible for it to work, we'll edit the 'minimum requirements' on the Steam page and I'll see if I can get you a refund. But, hopefully it doesn't come to that.

Apologies again for our crummy response on this.

Hey Finn, I'm sorry it took me so long. For some reason, I never got an e-mail about this and had basically given up hope when it came to trying to play this game.

Without going in and possibly somehow breaking my computer by updating drivers it doesn't want me to update, I was able to do the other things. Unfortunately, even though it took a bit longer for it to load, it still eventually crashed. I think it's just because my netbook is two years old and even though I'm running more ram and a better operating system, it still just isn't enough to play it. Which is really upsetting.

That said, I'm hoping to upgrade to a new computer sometime within the next year so I'll just hold out on playing it until then and pray that computer is able to play it.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. And I'm sorry that I couldn't get to play it to tell you how amazing of a game it is. ;_; I hope you have a happy holidays!
