Did anyone else get this update coming up as a virus?
Aside from having auto-updates turned OFF! This proceeded to update regardless (and without my permission) and then immediately my VC told me it was a virus. Whether this is a false positive or not, it is disconcerting to have something like this pop up over something I did not want to download.

Same. Had auto-updates turned off, game still auto-updated, and as soon as it was done, bam! Virus alert. Didn't have any problem with it before the update.

Thanks for posting on here about this. The update was a major, making the game compatable with newer Win8 machiens. We try not to update these older games unless compatability issues arise, as players lose thier saved data, etc. Apoligizes on the false positive, but we can assure you there is no virus. Not sure why it auto-updated though when you had the setting off.

Mcafee also detected a virus and moved the exe . to quarantine Virus: W32/NGVCHd
Verify game cash in steam, downloads exe file, same thing.
Shut of rael time scan, download game and play, so far no issues, except
when exiting the game it does nor restore native screan resolution to 1920x1080.
could be why its having issues.
Update, as soon as real time scan is on ot the directory is scaned , it detects it again and removes it, ( when I had real time scan off, I made exception for exe to have internet acess
but did not resolve anything)
Has to be the win8 code fix that is causing this and dev needs to look at it.
After posting the above I downloaded the game from another source as a demo and it ran with no issue.
I know the instalation would be diffrent but the other soruce file version is 1.3.0.4 and Steams version is 1.0.1, plus most of the installed files do not match in size betwen the two diffrent versions.
Another update; I was able to extrac the zip with 7zip and ran the standalone, but as soon as
I launched the steam version with antivirus running, .exe gone.
The dat file for the steam version is bigger by 59.516 kb. and it looks like it is the steam extra content that broke the game.
Ok this realy is starting to bug me;starting from game icon; enabled ingame beta option for achevments, .exe is not deleated by av, but when launching the game i get a window stating that steam needs to be running inorder to be able to play this version, only option is to quit.
If I launch from steam get error .exe is not found.
And the steam version of the game is Midnight Mysteries: Salem Witch Trials but the game itself says it is Midnight Mysteries2: Salem Witch Trials

any news on this problem? I've downloaded the game today and have found the same problems as described by techhead51 above. is there a fix that works?

Is there any update on this problem? I just encountered the same thing and am waiting for it to be fixed. I understand you have said that it is absolutely not a virus, but as long as McAfee insists it is, I will not allow it.
