Logitech F710 in directinput mode
So...this thing in xbox360 controller mode just doesn't work.

I flip it to directinput mode and it's now recognised as a logitech joypad. Fine, now I can assign my keys.

But with the rift, i can only LOOK at the buttons on my dash, MC etc. The "Y" button is supposed to select but I can't actually select anything. This used to work.

Which function in the key assignment list is the one that selects a button i'm looking at with the Rift? Accept/Start seems to bring up a menu. Not select what I'm staring at.

Is there a button layout of the xbox360 controller buttons someplace I can reference?

The Context button is the Cycle MC Input. You will need to rebind it.

And this is usually to "Y"?

Can you tell me what the other 3 should be by default?

Thanks

X = Flare, A = Missile, B = Next Nav Point

I can't get my F710 to work in any mode. When I set it to DirectInput mode (as mentioned by the OP), I'm able to configure joypad buttons in the config screen, but when I exit to play the game, the buttons I configured don't do anything. This is the only game I've played that doesn't work with the F710. Any chance we can get this fixed?

Thanks.

Did you save the config?

Yes, I saved the config. When I re-enter the controls setup dialog, all my settings are there. But...
I have now discovered that in order to get it to work, I have to use Logitech's Profiler configuration tool to configure the gamepad to emit keyboard keys that match the keyboard keys from LL's config dialog. This means that the analog sticks are effectively turned into digital switches, but perhaps LL doesn't even make use of analog for anything (?? I don't know if that's true, since I can't get it to recognize the gampad at all).

Hmm, thats very odd, you should have no trouble configuring any Direct Input device. All the Thrust inputs are analog but have smooth digital alternatives for the keys. I'll have to get one of those controllers, it seems like a few people have them but for some reason they are causing problems.

Hi. Im another customer of Lunar flight that uses the logitech F710 stick. In most oculus rift demos/games and my own dev projects I've been using the f710 in x-mode, which is supposed to work just like the xbox-controller (and it does). I've tried to operate the game with the stick in both d-mode and x-mode. The calibration screen just doesn't respond at all to my stick, neither does the gameplay. I've binded input controls in the options cotroller screen, but still nothing works. Playing this game with the oculus rift with keyboard and mouse is just not an viable option. I really would want to avoid buying an xbox controller just for this game.

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with this controller. Lunar Flight does not support XInput it uses Direct Input which is more widely used by most controller devices. The only way I can address this properly is to get one of those controllers. I am not making a lot of money off the game so it is an expense I would have to consider.

Yes I understand the pain investing in multiple joystick controllers of the same kind. Id be glad to test the controller (direct-input) with some simple test app if that helps.

I am currently adding XInput support, this should make every single X360 controller and compatible pad (Logi F710) work without issue. However there is one contraint and that is that it will not be configurable so you will have to use the default configuration. There will be a new checkbox in the Controller Config Menu which is checked by default. If you want to use Direct Input and reconfigure the controls just uncheck this box.
