[Tool] List servers and check port forwarding
Hi,

I've made a little tool to get the servers list.
As there isn't a lot of servers running, it could be useful to check what's going on without running the game.
I've added a small port scanner, so if you run a server and want to quickly check your port forwarding setup, that tool is for you!

Hope it will help the community.
Feel free to tell me if you have ideas for improvements, problems or bugs.

Glad to help, thanks for making that awesome game.
I can provide you the source code, if you want a copy or host it on Shovsoft's website.

It's very good idea! Thanks!

Hi guys! I live in Ukraine and can play only in the evening. But there are no servers at the time, when I check it. And when I create a server(ports are open), people rarely have a connect to me. I understand about the time zone. So, I want to propose maybe a schedule, where we can find out about the date and time to play with each other, or maybe even a tournament with team play or something like that. Maybe this subject was discussed earlier, but I didn't find it. So?

P.s. Loved this game from the first click=) and sh0v0r, yeah, we all know about Oculus Rift, but don't give up anyway, the game has a big potential.

Thank your for that nice little tool!

Recently I was not able to connect to any server and it seems I am not the only one.
So I trained a lot solo, but I hope to create a server or join one successfully soon with the opened ports, beeing able to shoot some rockets accross the moon.

Nice tool! But I'm running a server, and I don't see any servers in the list? Ports are open, people are joining it etc.

Hi Sharkku,

I've just checked, creating a new server and seeing another one. I didn't saw any problem.
The tool shows only servers online since last 10 seconds.
I think it can explain what you experienced.
I've changed that rule to display servers online since last 3 minutes.
I will check my server's firewall, perhaps it blocks your IP.
Can you retry and tell me if it's better?

Can you make notifications? So when a new Public server starts you will get notified

Hi Supermuskox,

That would be great ! I'm working on something better for the interface right now (mobile/tablet support).
I will implement a live update with notifications while I'm on it.

Stay tuned !

Good news everyone !

I've just uploaded a new version. I hope you will enjoy it.

It may require some adjustments, but it's enough stable.
Feel free to tell me what you think about it.

Changes
  • Graphical overhaul, with a better support of mobile and tablet devices.
  • Auto-refresh list and sound alert (small beep) if a new server appears.
  • Server's country flag.

I see you added the notification..... Now we need servers to test it..

Question: Do you need to open your ports to join a server? I ask because, I can't open my ports to host a server. I talked with my internet provider and they told me that unless I have a business account with them, they don't allow opening ports on the router. So, consequently I can't host and have been unable to find any servers running. The one time I found one the server site said they had ports open and, it was public. I was unable to join and the server wasn't full. So, I'm not sure what the deal was unless you must also have open ports to join.

Hi brainf451,

When you join a server, you act as a client, so you don't need to open any port.
Unless you have a firewall blocking outgoing connections, but I presume that's not your case.

You only need to open ports when you host a game or a network service.

What your ISP is doing is sad: opening ports is a quite basic feature and you already pay for the bandwidth. So you should be able to use it as you want...

Do you have the same problem with other games/softwares or only with Lunar Flight ?

First, I'd like to say thanks for the quick response. It turns out that the joining problem wasn't the firewall. It was my son messing around with my comp without my knowledge. I asked him about it and he finally told me the truth. Got that one fixed. As for my ISP. They said it was because, I live in a National Forrest and they are very restricted on what they can and can't do. Oh well on that one. I figure it is the price I have to pay for living in a clean and protected forrested area.
Lunar Flight is an awsome game for those of us that remember the Moon Landings. Each time I play. I can just imagine how Neil Armstrong felt. Now if only more people would host a server and find out just how great this game is.......Perfect.

I'm glad you solved your issue.
In life, like in computer networks, communication solves problems. :-)
