lunar flight 360 controller windows 7 config installation and use
Hi everyone.

After browsing the titles of the 49 threads in the forum, i have found only 1 reference on how to use the 360 controller pad, but it's for Mac. So, if i missed the thread that deals with the issue i'd like to fix here, i'm sorry.
My 360 controller is already USB plugged when i launch lunar flight, but the module isn't responsive at all when i try to operate it with the pad for a mission or a training session, and no panel in the control options will display the fonctions of each pad's button, like the possibility of using such a device for this game simply doesn't exist.

Could anyone publish a complete tutorial on how to install and then "launch", or activate, the 360 controller pad for windows 7 ?

Thanks and cheers.

If you have a 'wired' x360 controller, you shouldn't have to do anything, it should just work, windows 7 should automaticaly detect it and install the driver. Lunar Flight is by default configured to work with an X360 controller. There is only one thing that may cause an issue and that is the device ID. If you have any other controllers plugged in they maybe using ID0. If this is the case you will need to go into the Controls Options and reconfigure the inputs so that the correct ID the device is on is identified.

If you have a 'Wireless' X360 controller with the Play'n'charge cable plugged in it wont work, you need to buy a wireless reciever.

ok, thanks for the answer.

I just tried to launch the game again: impossible to use the microsoft X360 controller... until i clicked "reset to defaults" in the control options panel: the controller was detected and the controls automatically set. So for people with the same kind of issue, check that your device is plugged all right, then, from lunar flight'main menu, go to options/control/reset to default.

Sorry for the trouble.

think you can go into controls in options and hit default when you have your pad connected and it will restore the 360 pad settings. It wipes them out if you ever go into controls without it connected which is why they didnt work for me at first.

I have a fix coming soon guys but as others have mentioned you might have some luck using someone elses InputData.dat file.

Removing InputData.dat helped with my wireless 360 controller. Location: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Saved Games\LunarFlight\InputData.dat Good luck!

It seems the game still requires a keyboard for exiting the game. I haven't found any way to get the main menu to popup w/ an X360 controller (start button does nothing).

That's correct the Main Menu is not navigable with an X360 controller.

Thanks for confirming.

I can get this to detect my wired 360 controller but the game has no default bindings, deleting the inputdata.dat has no effect. It is supposed to have default bindings right?

In the future it would be nice if perhaps there was a drop down list with a bunch of default bindings for popular controllers and joysticks. Because the trial and error of setting this up yourself is an unnecessary pain in the ♥♥♥ :P
