Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II

This doesn't follow the story of KOTOR's characters?
I just finished the first KOTOR and I loved it. What I really loved the most was the main characters, their relationships, their backstories their dialoge and just them.

Though, from the description of this game, it makes me think am creating a whole new character and going through the same Light/Dark thing as last time with different people around me.

Is there no continuation of Raven/Bastila?
Does your playthrough in the first effect the game like Bioware's Mass Effect series.

Your previous playthrough has no automatic effect on The Sith Lords you get to choose what happened in the Jedi Civil War early in the game (through dialogue it does not present a "pick what happened screen"). Revan is a key figure through out this game though he\she is never actually present, Bastila, HK-47, T3-M4, Canderous and Carth all reappear in this game (though not in all playthroughs for Bastila and Carth).

You are creating a new character but this time around, but dependent on your behavoir, your companions may now become light or dark siders (if they like you their alignment will begin to match your's if they don't like you they become the opposite of what you are).

This game expands upon Revan dramatically, giving his war on the Republic a deeper purpose (which was then trashed by ToR).

A final piece of advice, do not expect KotOR 1; 2.0 from this game, The Sith Lords is a substantially different game if you go into it expecting the first game you will not get much out of it, it's still an RPG but it is much darker and generally avoids most Star Wars stereotypes and tropes entirely.

That being said I find it to be an amazing game that requires a much differnent mindset than KotOR 1.

This is the ancestor of Mass Effect. Sadly the carry-through option wasn't developed at the time, but in the opening you set what happened in the first game through dialogue. Despite its age, it's an incredible game!

Ummmmm Bastilla and carth are in it... but there play though is very short. Basically, and no spoilers dont worry, Revan left after 3 months in the republic... because of something. the entire game is kinda revolved around that and why Revan left.

tbh, the story line is meh, but the mechnaics are much better. gameplay is better, planets i feel are better. and like theres cool fetures like the "influence" mechnism and also like u can turn ur teamates into your apprentice. sadly though, there is almost 0 romance in this one.

TOR is noncanon now. The EU is noncanon for storyline purposes.

KotOR-2 is well in line with KotOR-1 and, unlike most of the SW-franchise, treats it with the respect it deserves. While not a continuation of your character in KotOR 1 this game does follow up quite nicely on it, various characters make a (usually short) appearance and some of it's background is explained.

Putting 'Star Wars' and 'canon' in one sentence by default makes it a joke.
