KOTOR 1 or 2?
I just bought the Star Wars bundle seen as though I enjoyed the JK series and heard so much about KOTOR.
But my god is KOTOR 2 dull! I'm not trolling and I'm sure some people love this game, but I just can't get into it. I tried really hard, but a game shouldn't need me to try so hard to like it for it to be good. It's so dull. I've exited the game 4 times out of sheer boredom.
My question is, is KOTOR any better?

If the idea behind them is story telling rather than gameplay, I think I would rather read a book or comic.

Well, Jorge Luis Borges, the world famous Argentinian writer, once said that if he had to make an effort to understand and enjoy a book then it´s author had failed. I´m not sure if he´s write and if this can be applied to other fields, but at least you´re in good company.

With regards to KOTOR 2, two things. First off: Story is the central premise of most RPG and this is an RPG. So if you are looking for a hack n slash or action platformer, look elsewhere. Secondly, you won´t even understand KOTOR 2´s plot unless you play KOTOR 1, which sets up an entire mythology.

That said, KOTOR 2 is slower to get going than KOTOR 1 is in some aspects (Paragus seems to go on for a good while if you don´t know what you´re doing), so you might want to try KOTOR 1 anyway.

Thanks for that. I will try KOTOR first. I've heard a few people say it's the better of the two anyway.
Not sure if this type of RPG is for me though. Shame because I'm sure for those that love it and Star Wars this is great.

No problem. It doesn´t really sound like your particular type of game, but no worries, everyone has their preferences.

That said, KOTOR is a ton of fun for Star Wars fans in part because you can see what competent storytellers can do with the SW IP. None of the crap of the prequels or pure light and dark simplicity. You deal with gray. You are actually faced with tough dilemmas where in the real world you feel conflicted as to what position you should take. It is worth playing just for the storytelling, imho.

In my opinion the first is better. KOTOR II is still pretty good once you get off Peragus.
