Getting Past the Exchange Thug

I've reached the Telos station and have a +2 charisma and +3 persuasion score as well as Jedi Mind Dominate and yet the only way to get past the Exchange thug right now is to kill him. I find it very dificult to belive that he cannot be persuaded to let me past either through jedi mind tricks or persuasion checks, but I also find it hard to belive that such a check is so high that I can't pass it with my stats this early in the game. It worries me that thus far I haven't gotten ANY special persuasion or mind-dominate option in conversations.

You don't get into the Exchange by persuading the thug.

If you have received the quest to meet/kill the Exchange leader then go to the cantina and talk to one of the Exchange people at the bar.

Yeah he doesn't let you in you can just keep killing him over and over. Once you get to a certain point in the main quest you're required to go to the exchange and luxa I believe (big tittied chick in the cantina) gets you in.
