i really like the stuff that kalypso comes out with, and i really like their style, but this game seemed to be lacking so much of that.
the game gives you missions to complete, and each mission takes place on a new "board." to complete these missions you need to fulfill certain requirements, like acquire $2k, or deliver 50 beer... stuff like that. to get the materials to fulfill these requirements you buy up areas on the "board" and convert them into differing businesses. each business has an extremely simple supply chain or dependencies... and that's basically the jist of the game right there... buy stuff, make money to buy and implement other stuff, to satisfy a board's missions' requirements... done and done... boring as ♥♥♥♥.
oh except that there's a turn-based tactical combat game in there too which you have to deal with from time to time. the combat is serviceable largely and no "gun type" is the most powerful so you are incentivized to build combat types/roles into your teams, so that's nice, but for the most part combat is boring, and in some instances poorly balanced. there are some missions that feel unnecessarily difficult simply because the maps are laid out in such a way that you have NO control over what sort of tactics you can use to win it. there's one mission towards the end of the game where you have to assault an fbi building, and there is seemingly no way to win it without luck, because enemies basically spawn in ahead, behind, and next to you and throw grenades higgly-piggly all over the place... not how i imagine the fbi would fight...
oh a good thing with this game is the voice acting. it is way over the top, like saturday morning cartoon levels of insanity... which is fun.
tldr: boring, unbalanced.
