Omerta - City of Gangsters - Future and Content Update
Omerta - City of Gangsters - Future and Content Update

Dear all,

as you may have noticed we have gone a bit silent over the recent days while we were busy collecting and evaluating your feedback and suggestions for the future of Omerta.

The result is an interim list of features which we are planning to provide via a free content update (PC and Xbox) for the game:

- New maps for multiplayer and sandbox modes
- Enemy gang for sandbox mode, operating independently and taking over businesses - can both attack the player and be attacked by the player
- Customizable game settings and goals for sandbox games
- Economy overview panel for current businesses with their efficiency, profit, ect.
- Visual representation of individual business types on the strategic map via icons
- Additional difficulty setting and "Iron Man" option (saving progress in strategic mode disabled)
- Massive overhaul of cover mechanics in turn-based combat
- Introduction of multiplayer chat and several other minor fixes/changes

Our goal is to make these features available some time between 4 and 8 weeks from now and I will report back with our progress regularly. As stated, the above list is still work-in-progress and subject to further additions and changes.

I would like to thank the community and everyone involved in the discussions about gameplay mechanics, suggestions and tweaks for their feedback and ongoing support.

On a side note, we have just released the DLC "The Bulgarian Colossus" (previously a retail preorder exclusive) for free to all owners of the game on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/215373/

Cool, would like to see the game become more of a sim in sandbox mode. I'll buy it in 4 to 8 weeks then.

Excellent news!! Very much hope the intended updates happen as described.

Such a shame that they weren't included with the games launch - the amount of money Kalypso could have made along side increased public relarions with these relatively small but necessary inclusions - instead we have the opposite situation in what appears to be a rushed release with little regard to how it will be received by an audience who has expectations for what their $40 will get them at the time of purchase.

You don't need a band-aid if you don't cause the injury in the first place!

If there is anything we need to learn in this world as individuals and or as a group of individuals - is patience! Gamers, devs and publishers alike.

By that time I hope I'll be neck deep in the new SimCity(5). Maybe I'll pick this game up when I'm done with that, but for now I'll deinstall and leave this shallow game for what it is. Goodluck fixing up this piece of scrap metal...

Sounds good. If you can deliver all these, I might give it a new try.

Also, question about DLC: Is it Steam only or is it avaible to GoG.com buyers too?

try to think about including multi districts for the sandbox mode, allows us then to carry on with the xp of the gang.

Well this sounds awesome, the game caught my eye originally but I'll admit I was hesitant towards a purchase . There being a sandbox mode helps and with improvements coming to the sandbox mode as well I think I will go ahead and check out the demo for the game. Does look like it could be pretty fun.
Thanks for sharing this news with the community.

See, that's what you call customer service. They took the feedback from their unhappy customers, decided to fix it based on that feedback, and communicated it. On top of that, releasing free content that they were going to charge for because of it. If all that pans out, I'd say it was worth it. Sure, would have been nice to get that from the start, but think how many other game companies don't give a crap what the customer thinks after they make their initial release money, much less try to do anything about it. Sometimes ♥♥♥♥ doesn't work out like you thought, but taking ownership of that and trying to make it right deserves some applause.

Honestly the major thing this game needed was a rival gang to fight against. With that, it will be like a different game.
DieScream Feb 22, 2013 @ 7:34pm
It's basically a list of many of the things that were missing from the game, and free, so that's good. You guys didn't need the community to tell you icons should represent businesses or that no enemy gangs in SB was a bad idea, but I digress.

I'm interested to see if you can cook this thing into a meal afterall.
