What assist do you guys/girl play with?
Normally I play with
Breaking Assist: off
ABS: On
TC: Full / medium
Dynamic RL: Corners Only / off
Gearbox: Auto / manual
Pit Assit: On

The stuff that Ive written after the / is when I know a track good enough.

Camera: Cockpit or TV cam.

None! its a bit of getting used to on some tracks, with the breaking zones and racing line but thats just a matter of seat time... and i use cockpit view always!

it makes things a lot of fun!

I hope that I get to the point where I can play with everything off.
And yeah, I can understand it makes stuff a bit more challenging.

I just jump in to any new race sim like that (kinda why i despise NFS) because i want complete control over the car, to learn where the limits are!

I agree no assists cockpit view and let that baby go.

Same as OP, but I some times ignore the Dynmic racing lining. I'm not good enough to turn everything off.

I have found that the racing line slows you down some- so you are better off learning the track for 2 or 3 laps with it on- then turning it off... just a heads up

Will try to just jump in it then, but what do you pick as track length? 5 laps / 50 / 100% ?

Thats all up to you but I have always run either 25% or 50% races... at Monaco, Singapore and Hungary i have completetd 100% races.

I say if you know a track really well from another sim- try there first. Canada, Spa or Monza may be the best bet.. seems that they are in everything.

New to online gaming and have barely played anything offline over the past 20yrs, first F1 game and really enjoying it. I turn all assists off just feels like it's cheating otherwise and use the above cockpit cam until i learn the track layouts then i intend to stay in cockpit mode.

I struggle as a mid 30's gamer with all the buttons to remember in FPS games and get headaches real quick so unable to play games long enough to remember the button configurations but with driving sims all is good.

Still have not worked out rewind mode and to be honest not interested in it. Is it true you can change fuel mixture and break balance during the game have not bothered to try yet just playing the time trials to learn the tracks.

Generally the only assists I use are the pit, auto trans and corner only racing line. If it's pouring down buckets of rain (srsly...had rain in Abu Dhabi last night), I'll turn on traction control. I've also started using the damage simulation to try to force myself not to just be a Red Bull in a china shop.

@H8 Gamers - adjusting the brake bias isn't really necessary unless your engineer chimes in and suggests a change because you've been locking up. But it's fairly obvious if you're locking the fronts and setting rear bias will usually fix it.

except corner only racing line and auto pit. others. never!

Yes you can change break bias and fuel mix during the race- and on 20% races or longer, they are pretty useful.. i set up my cars with a lot of rear break anyway and dont often mess with it - but guys in my league change it 3 or 4 times a lap some places.
