DOOM 3: BFG Edition Vs. DOOM 3
What is the difference between BFG edition and regular DOOM 3. I have no idea and I don't know wich one to buy.

You should buy "DOOM 3 BFG EDITION" cause it contains all three DOOM games (DOOM, DOOM II, DOOM 3 and DOOM 3 BFG EDITION) Goodbye. :)

Ignoring what anto said, I have both myself, to be honest. There aren't many differences between the two versions, actually.

Doom 3: Moddable(coding is open source and important for people who only care about having the best graphics possible), lower requirements(don't quote me on that)

BFG Edition: Native 16:9(widescreen) and 3D(support for the Oculus Rift coming out soon), shoulder mounted flashlight(takes some of the scare out of the game in my opinion), somewhat more forgiving with ammo+health, campaigns/episodes not available otherwise

Many elitists are going to tell you to go Doom 3 and say that BFG Edition is nothing but a bunch of crap, but I hope this little comparison helps you. BFG Edition was meant more as an entry for people new to Doom, I think.

Thank you!

BFG edition is a complete downgraded, easier version of the game. If you've never played the doom games, either choice won't matter.

its not a downgrade!!!! your playing it in hd now so you notice the old crap graphics, I've noticed some improved graphics in it.

Crap graphics? Doom 3 has cool graphics...

I would like to add that BFG runs up to 120 fps for a smoother feel. Minor tweaks like player walking speed, native widescreen of course (you could do it in original doom 3 but you had to edit a couple files), fov is shrunk to 60 (I'm told, I can't tell), and minor lighting changes.

My vote: if you own a pc capable of handling original Doom 3 + modern graphics mods, there isn't a good value proposition for minor tweaks and a new episode. However, if you own a console, it's a whole other story and an easy recommendation. Before this edition, you had the original Doom 3 on Xbox, which was not moddable and had a number of differences to make it run on that hardware. Hope that helps.

In the Doom 3 BFG, they removed mouse acceleration. and that is good!

If you have your heart set on sikkmod with wulfen texture pack then doom 3 is the way to go, But if you have occulis rift or decent 3dtv/ monitor bfg edition is pretty sweet. I have both, and love them both, and as far as consoles go, the 360 version 1080p, ps3 720p, the 3d on ps3 version is decent, but not as good as PC, I havent tried the 360 version in 3d my xbox is old no hdmi.

i got the bfg. i am buying the doom 3 pack since it is cheaper than it was. My only reasons to me is that it is more of the dark atmosphere. AND of the LEVEL SELECT where we can choose the levels we want. Don;t think you can do that on the BFG but must start over a new game.
Never tried the skidmod back then so wanna try that too.

Doom 3 is far more better if you get mods for it. With mods, even the graphics are better than in the BFG edition.

after looking into this i'll be buying the original versions of Doom 3 and RoE
Evilnapkin 25 de Nov, 2012 a las 12:22
BFG should've been a $5 upgrade for people that already owned Doom 3 and RoE. That's how small the difference is, it's a glorified patch.

doom 3 has coop or multiplayer?

It does not contain final doom expansion packs (2 of them) and no master levels for doom 2 - goodbye.
