I seem to remember I had this problem way back with the original Doom, but got it to work.

Any ideas?

PS: Yes, I do have the latest nVidia drivers. Both video and PhysX.
same problem
Watch system requirements in DOOM3 BFG Edition store page.
I think DOOM3 BFG Edition is not support Windows XP.
Indeed it does not say anything about win xp in the minimum system requirements :/
