Unlock Nightmare at start?
I wanna replay Doom 3, but only on Nightmare. Is there a command to unlock it?

I usually speedrun the campaign on recruit, takes about 2-3 hours, can get boring however. Their maybe another way around it i don't really know but you get the 10 hour speedrun achievement easily this way without having to rush nightmare.

Nightmare Difficulty Without Finishing the Game

You will need to edit the DoomConfig.cfg file, located in the /Data/BASE folder. Make sure you backup the file before making any changes. Open the file with Notepad or other text editor. Look for the "g_nightmare" entry. If you haven't finished the game yet, you will see the number 0. Change it to 1, save, and nightmare mode will be unlocked

If you read this thread looking for a solution for Doom 3 BFG Edition, here's what you need to do:

*** WARNING: You need to create a fresh profile which means deleting your current one. Editing profile.bin directly will not work. You will lose your keybindings (not sure if anything else). ***

1. Delete the file C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Saved Games\id Software\DOOM 3 BFG\base\savegame\profile.bin

2. Open C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Saved Games\id Software\DOOM 3 BFG\base\D3BFGConfig.cfg

3. Change the zeros in the following lines to ones and save the file:

set g_leNightmare "0"
set g_roeNightmare "0"
set g_nightmare "0"

4. Nightmare will be unlocked for the regular game, Resurrection Of Evil and Lost Mission (the 1's will be written to the new profile.bin).

5. Start the game and "Nighmare" will be selectable

I know this is an old post but does it really disable the achievements. I lost my save data after I completed the game once now I want to do nightmare I will be really disappointed if it's disabled.

No, the ini edit does not disable achievements. I just finnished the lost mission on nightmare after unlocking it and I got all achievements.
