is this game worth it?
i own the original xbox version of both doom 3 and doom 3 roe. roe comes with all the doom games. the lost missions seems to be the only thing i would play if i bought this again (i emphasize again). i would really buy it if it had online and split screen co-op though. other than those two reasons there is really no reason for me to play this.

It's not worth it. You can't bind a zoom key. That's an automatic fail. The original didn't do so many "now loading" and when 2004 doom did load it was much faster. In the original you could hit any key to skip through the cut scenes. The original has better textures too. The only thing good about Doom BFG is that it made me install my original and relived some good memories.

Plus I hate how installing steam games from disk take forever. Doom 3 BFG is 7GB and it took me an hour and a half to install, but I was able to install Mass Effect 3 which is 12 or 13GB and it took only 29 minutes from disk. I just chose to download it which still took 35 minutes. Installing by disk is way faster if they didn't rig it to use the minimum speed of your dvd rom.

Another thing I just noticed is the AA is broken. If you set it to 4xAA it stays disabled.

@YoMaNiTz42 there is no need for a zoom key, basically all combat is done right in front of your face

Yeah I know but there was a zoom key in the original that I remember using to aim down the scope of the rocket launcher. Point is why go through the trouble of removing something that was already there? If some people think there is no need for it then they can make the choice of unbinding it, but at least they have a choice.

I think it is Worth it. Yes Sikkmod and wulfen textures with paralax are better looking, maybe we can get those textures in some how. but the Gem here is 3d native support, not Nvidia or amd preffered just NATIVE! with many console comand adjustedments it is the best 3d game I have played yet, And I have played both all three amd, nvida, and native, And with the occulis rift coming out! plus native controller support. If you love the game its worth it. I was bummed that they kept to the same open al audio no toslink 5.1 surround digtal not DD.
Awesome more people complaining. 1.) The developers mentioned the game was going to be like DOOM 3 expect some updates and content WITH DOOM 1 and DOOM 2. Did anyone read or see that at all? Its very hard to miss it. 2.) This possibly a way to introduce new people into the DOOM series and that is okay with me. 3.) i was pleased with the content put in bought it and enjoyed i. Even if I have played DOOM 3 a long time ago, I am very well thankful for my product. Chou!

It's not worth it unless you are a rich person with the highest top of the line computer, if you don't have that then you will be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by the retarded OpenGL thing not being able to make the window to start the game for the first time.

Is it worth it? There's two answers:

1. If you're a console gamer, yes it's worth it because the original Doom 3 is not available on consoles except the old Xbox.

2. If you're a PC gamer, stay the hell away from it because you can do lots, lots, LOTS more with the original Doom 3 on the computer with mods and tweaks that makes $10 worth $100.

My original copy worked perfectly. I was able to put it to 8AA with no slow downs in performance from beginning to end. I decided to give BFG another shot but even without any AA I still experience a performance hit. I just finished playing my original and it was as great as I knew it would be. Original is always the way to go.

Buy the older one and put on it Silkkmod. Cheaper, better performance, better graphics. Better.
