Frustrating.

There is like zero help anywhere on the internet that fixes this issue. Troubleshot for about 3 hours today. Only way to contact Bestheda is via e-mail customer support, still havent heard anything back yet. Next step is to call Steam to get my money back.

I had the exact same problem.

Try doing this: Right click on Doom3BFG.exe located in C:\Program Files (x86) \Steam\ steamapps \common \DOOM 3 BFG Edition. Select properties then compatibility then check the box for "Run this program in compatibility for" and select Windows XP (Service Pack 3) or lower. Click apply then ok. Start up Doom 3 BFG from steam.

I found just now that my screen resolution was the problem. When ever I tried to start the game it went to a grey scean then it quit out and had a error message. But when I changed my screen resolution just now to 1280 by 720 it ran just fine.
