Just will not run! Can anyone help?
I have spent the last 2 hours trying to get this game to run. I have updated all my drivers, I've uninstalled and reinstalled and tried everything that I can. I am running on Windows XP and have a ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series graphics card. I used to have the original Doom 3 and it worked perfect without any problem at all. Whenever I try to load it up a blue box appears with a huge error log and at the bottom it says GL-ARB_draw_elements_base_vertx not available. I have looked up online in an attempt to find a fix for this with no look at all.

Is there anything that anyone can advise that might get this to work?

Thank you.

I began to wonder this and looking it up. From what I can see others have been able to get it to run on Windows XP plus the original ran on Windows XP so I don't quiet understand. *Sigh* I guess it is about time to upgrade either way. lol.

Minimum:

OS:Windows vista/ Windows 7

Time to upgrade. I recommend Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Good luck.

Thank you both for the advice. I have literally tried every single thing in the opengl issue thread so I believe it is just time to upgrade to Windows 7. Thank you all for your attempts at helping me resolve the issue and I will upgrade as soon as possible and let you know if that has fixed the issue.

Doom 3 was released in '04 which makes it pre vista & 7 and runs natively on just about every Linux operating system from '04 to current. The core components of the game have not been changed. It's a driver/video issue your having as "GL" refers to the Graphics Library. If your running nvidia try disabling FXAA, it seems to cause more problems than it's worth on some games.

On a side note, the recent offering from m/s is a downgrade to 8 or 8.1.

I am using Intel HD 4000 graphics (on laptop) and fixed the issue by uninstalling & reinstalling the graphics driver. At first I tried updating it but it said that I was currently running the latest driver. You uninstall & reinstall the driver by going into device manager (type ‘device manager‘ into search on your start menu), under ‘Display adapters’ it should list ‘Intel HD Graphics 4000’, right click this, go to properties then click on the driver tab. At the bottom there is an uninstall button. Once it has uninstalled you have to restart your computer. After this locate the same driver tab then hit the ‘Update driver’ button.
