Crash after game intro
Hello, I just purchased Doom 3 BFG and I can not get it to work. When I start any of the Doom 3 titles the intro movie plays and then the message "Doom 3: BFG Edition has stopped working" appears and then returns to the desktop. However I can play multiplayer just fine.I have updated all my drivers and nothing has worked. Thank you for any help.

Desktop
FX6100

8Gb ram

Use the 13.2 beta 7 drivers from AMD. Don't know why, but any driver later than that seems to make the BFG Edition crash. I too have a HD 7770 and it worked for me. Hope this helps.

Wow thanks jpicaro24. 13.2 did the trick for me. How did you know?

Glad it worked for you. I install every beta driver to test how each game will run. Doom 3 BFG edition is the only game to give me problems with any driver later than 13.2 beta 7. Hopefully they'll fix the bug for future driver releases, in the meantime enjoy the game.

Ok, for those who want to upgrade their ATI drivers to the newest 13.6 beta 2's and play Doom 3 BFG you can do the following, start the game and choose Multiplayer. Then click create match. Start the match, spawn then quit. Then click Campaign then continue, the game should work...hopefully. I have tested it on my Radeon 7770 and can confirm that it does indeed work.

Yes, that works too, I have played using this method in the past.

Come on AMD. Fix this issue!

I tried the multiplayer approach but then my game pad (ps3 controller using motion joy) would randomly disconnect during the game and occasionally the game would crash. Using the 13.2 beta 7 drivers from AMD solved both issues so far.

For a year old game you'd think fix would be available.. think again. Only fix for getting game working is put out by players themselfs. Out of couple possible options that "multiplayer fix" works for me too, so thanks to my fellow gamers of that! Can at least play the game, unlike publisher seem to intend.
