Daikatana
Ever heard of Daikatana? This game was made by John Romero, but it was, hands down, ID's worst game yet. It was very buggy and difficult. In fact, it was so bad, that ID decided NOT to upload it onto Steam!

I will say this. I want someone to take Daikatana, fix all the glicthes, make the game easier, then upload it to Steam. That way, John will feel better on the inside, and we can see what it's really like.

I may be wrong, but Im pretty sure id had nothing to do with Daikatana.

Maybe, maybe not. But whatever the reason, this is probably one of the biggest video game disasters ever.

id had nothing to do with Daikatana. John Romero is notoriously bad at decision making so he left id to do his own thing which we all know didn't work out very well.

It was made by Ion Storm, John Romero's company after he left id Software, and was a contributing factor for the firm shutting down after it's release. It's also nowhere near as bad as it's notoriety would suggest, but it is far from a great game.

ID has nothing to do with Daikatana. Tell me OP when google started striking their banhammer?

I still have it on CD! Its not a bad game in my book. The thing that made it bad was the
maze like level designs, looking for switches and you start off with something primitve every time you jump in time and by the time you get something awesome, you jump again!
But I must say the music was great, esp the greek ages,

But yeah, it would be cool to remake this game along the lines of Doom3.

I heard that the game corrupts if you save on a moving platform.

Daikatana has only to do with idSoftware as far as using idTech 2 engine, and John Romero being one of the founders of idSoftware.

The game was made by ION Storm, with Romero serving as lead designer and mapper as far as I recall.

The game was good, buggy, but good. The beginning of the game was meh, but after you acquired normal weapons it turned to be fun. As always, bad PR and ♥♥♥♥ poor press coverage (by that I mean journos playing that one bad level and making it sound like whole game was of that quality) did the evil thing to the game.

Masters of Doom is a good book that sheds light on events of the past. I strongly recommend reading it for anyone who is interested in the story behind idSoftware.

Ion Storm were two branches: Austin and Dallas. Romero and Tom Hall founded the company in Dallas, and later asked Warren Spector to open a branch in Austin with the promise of making any game he desired (it was Deus Ex). Dallas was the studio Romero was in charge of. It closed down in 2001, a year after Daikatana released, and just after Anachronox, as excellent a game as it was, failed to bring in any money. Had Anachronox not been in development, chances are they would have shut down right away, after Daikatana's disastrous launch. Ion Storm Austin, headed up by Warren Spector, went on to make a couple more games after that, DXIW and Thief Deadly Shadows, neither of which were the huge successes Eidos had hoped for. The kept the company going for a while after Daikatana, and the Dallas office closing its doors, but the firm was ultimately doomed to fail.

Nope, your not wrong. DaiKatana was apart of JR's private company, which eventually turned into Ionstorm (Who did start to build good games). I never played Daikatana though..
