How to aim in doom?

I can only move (using keyboard), look left, look right (using mice) and shoot (mice LB).
Are the game settings just like that or what?

How can I look up or down, and if can I add a cross for aiming?

you can only move, you can't aim, there are no corss hairs and you can't jump. This is at least for the first doom I have not played the others so I can't speak for the controls in them

Yup, you can only look left and right, no up and down aiming. Mind you, these were made in 1993-1995 if I remember correctly.

Vertical aiming at targets is done automatically, so there's no need for looking up and down.

You can aim, crouch, jump, etc with free software like Zdoom, and many others, if you have the files from the original games

Can’t look up, means I can’t check out if there are items; can’t look down, means I can’t check out the pit have an exit way or just a death pit.
Both ways, make the control very uncomfortable.

Are you stating that the bulb didn't light up when you started playing and realized you can not look up and down?

Now I have queation about Zoom in Doom 3, in this edition it doesnt seem to have zoom key, each is odd, because the old Doom 3 version had some kind of mini zoom, this is intented or is lacking something?

If you want up/dpwn look for doom, go download the source port Zdoom, it's a very powerful engine, and far better than the one in BFG. Once you have that, find the IWADS inside the Doom 3 steamapps folder (you're looking for "DOOM.WAD", "DOOM2.WAD", and "NERVE.WAD") and put them in the folder where you extracted Zdoom. Play around with the settings until you find what best suits you. And yes, crosshairs are there too.

yeah you can only go forward backward left and right in doom 1 and 2 but you have a crosshair and can look up and down in and also jump in doom 3 hope this helps

That's classic Doom! You can aim vertically (freelook) in source ports like ZDaemon (depending on server settings if you play online)

I had a version of doom on my mac that did let me look up and down, but i dont remember what i did to make it do that. It does aim autamaticly, but when you can look up and down, it helps you find items easyer

Doom 1 & 2 auto-aim to enemies above or below so long as you're aiming at the right horizontal spot, so don't worry about having to be level with enemies.
