Why didn't they use the Trent Reznor Soundpack???
For those who are unfamiliar, Trent Reznor had worked on "Doom 3" for a short while and even managed to set some sounds down, but took those sounds with him when he left the project. However, his original sounds became available to download on various gaming websites.

But my question is, when the guys at IDSoftware released the BFG Edition back in October, why didn't they use Trent Reznor's much superior sounds??

Yeah, those sounds were much better. I'm guessing it had something to do with money (presumably Trent would have had to have been paid for his work), or that they didn't feel it was a neccessary change to make.

I did notice a few sound related changes, for example, picking up med-kits now makes a far more annoying sound. I think, from id's point of view, it might be seen as too big a change to the original game to use Trent Reznor's sounds. Even though they were better for the most part, I think a lot of people are just used to the original sounds by now (and the sound design in Doom 3 was very strong). Changing them changes the whole feel and atmosphere of the game. Either that, or it was something that was never even considered at any point. Purely speculation, of course.

well the sound you hear when you pick up the medkits, is the same one that the Soulcube makes when you kill something with it and its lifeforce being transferred back to you. Plus, if you have the 2004-05 version of "Resurrection of Evil" on the PC, Trent's original sounds automatically carries over into that game.

Why would you want those? They sound terrible IMO.

There is nothing wrong with the vanilla sounds. I prefer them.

well the vanilla sounds is pretty much the same ones as the 2004 released version, and there was alot of complaints from people who said how weak the guns (particularly the pistol) sounded when fired
