Help please - "Error during initialization"
I get this error when trying to open Doom3 bgf

"............
.............
ERROR: GL_ARB_draw_elements_base_vertex not available
********************
Error during initialization
Shutting down OpenGL subsystem
...wglMakeCurrent( NULL, NULL ): success
...deleting GL context: success
...releasing DC: success
...destroying window
...resetting display
...shutting down QGL
...unloading OpenGL DLL"

I already tried some of the tips that I found on this forum, but without luck.
I'm using Windows 7 64 bits, and I already played Doom3 on this computer (not the bgf edition), so this is weird.

Thanx :)

I'm getting the exact same issue.

Doom 3 and BFG have different game engines. BFG requires OpenGL 3.2 compliant video card and current video drivers.
Old Doom 3 required OpenGL 2.1 I believe.

This is my vieo card
Intel HD Graphics 3000
and I have "OpenGL 3.0 (Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics with 103 ext.)"

should I install OpenGL 3.2?

you can't just install OpenGL 3.2
You need to install latest video driver from Intel's website.

Thax u for the help,

I went to the " Intel Driver Update Utility" in the intel website and found that it all my stuff is already updated.
Also found that the graphic driver in my computer is AMD Radeon HD 6630M.

I don't know what to do now. I'm starting to think that my graphic card does not support the latest versions of OpenGL :(

If you do indeed have an AMD Radeon HD 6630M, then you have a Switchable Graphics laptop. I also have a Switchable Graphics laptop and am pretty familiar with it, however I'm not very familiar with the Intel/AMD (Intel CPU + AMD GPU) setup, mine is an AMD/AMD (AMD CPU + AMD GPU) setup. Your 6630M should support at least OpenGL 4.1, possibly all the way up to OpenGL 4.3 depending on how up-to-date your AMD drivers are.

Have you tried the fix for changing r_fullscreen? Try adding "+set r_fullscreen 3" to the game launch options. This was what fixed an issue similar to yours that I had. If 3 doesn't work, try 2 and 4 as well, that has worked for some people.
If you don't know how to change the launch options, it's pretty easy:
- Right click the game in your Library, then click on Properties.
- Click on the "Set Launch Options..." button in the window that appears.

EDIT: Another launch option you could try is "+set r_useOpenGL32 0" if the r_fullscreen thing doesn't work.

This is actually nothing like the issue here, I suggest making a new topic for your issue to make sure it gets better attention.
