Game crashing after loading a level
My game keeps crashing everytime i try to load the next level or something. I had no problems with doom 1 or 2 but as soon as i play doom 3 the problems start. I have a AMD HD 5700 graphics card which is updated to the latest version (13.12) and everything i read says to update it but since im updated to the latest version i do not know what to do anymore. Any help with this?

What OS ? Will never work if you are on Windows XP.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit

Turn off AA (or switch it to application controlled, or whatever it's called there) in Catalyst, disable tripple buffering, and turn off Catalyst A.I. Than might help.

There are some setting in Catalyst that mess with OpenGL stuff and make BFG fail. So you just gotta find proper settings and save a new custom profile for BFG.

Another thing to do, if anything I just told you fails, is to find atioglxx.dll in your C:\Windows\Sys* folder, and copy it into BFG's folder (next to .exe).

I had crashing on loading screen and, after looking around, I found a forum post that recommended starting a local multiplayer match, quitting, then going to single player to play the game. That worked for me, and I've been doing it ever since.

so instead of launching the campaign first and loading your save you should start a local/custom/ whatever multiplayer match first?

this may work

Yup.

Sadly that didn't work. it still crashed on the same level after i played it a little. i had just gotten to the scientist(the second level) and it crashed there. Would these crashes have something to do with me alt + enter and then alt + tab out?

no idea, but try not using alt+tab and see what happens? Or play in windowed mode?

Alt+Tabbing will break many games running in full screen. Like motorsep says, try playing in windowed mode if you need to switch between programs regularly.

That woked for me, now I play with no issues, so thank you, that was helpful.

I have a similar issue. My game crashes on the first level loading screen of any of the three DOOM 3 campaigns. DOOM I and II work just fine however. I was told to contact Bethesda for support, huge mistake, they kept insisting it was my direct X or something in that category, even when I provided my system specs and they could see that my AMD Radeon 7777 series gaphics, 8GB ram machine with Direct X 11 installed was top of the line and more than capable of running some 9 year old game. Anywhoo don't bother with Bethesda they were either unwilling or incapable of fixing my product. Now I don't know what to do I'm stuck with a game that cost me $20 and doesn't work. Does anyone else have this much trouble? Or am I just a ♥♥♥♥♥? Be honest.

I don't get who keeps washing your brain, but this game is from 2012, not from 2004. The engine is brand new, the assets are tweaked in places, but from the old game. So new tech powering old game. Which means hardware requirements are entirely different than from 2004.

The issue is not with the game but with your video drivers or OS or hardware.

1. Update drivers properly (13.12 is the latest version; do clean re-install)
2. Make sure your desktop resolution is not odd. Run the game in windowed mode to be sure it runs and something else isn't crashing it.
3. Make sure you are not on Windows XP. WinXP is not suppored by AMD since a while ago, so you will never be able to run Doom 3 BFG on WinXP, because of the drivers.

Sorry for not replying for a long time guys. I followed what was posted in this link(well reverting the openGL to an older version) and it has worked for me ever since. played a few levels with no crash.
