OK to use custom frame rates?
So I'm using a G-sync monitor. Some of you won't know how these things work, but basically you need to cap under the refresh, otherwise you'll get just as much input lag as running the game at 120fps in 120hz mode with vsync enabled.

This wouldn't be a problem, but I can't get BFG to run in 144hz mode with 1920x1080 (only with a custom res of 1920x1078 forced to 144hz, but then I can't run gsync in that mode).

So I was looking through the config file and spotted the "set com_engineHz" command. Not only can anything between 60 fps and 120fps be used without stuttering (I tried capping at custom frame rates with dxtory, but the engine stutters even with g-sync variable refresh rate enabled). But also much higher frame rates can be used. I could now run the game at like 300 fps if I wanted.

All I wanted to do was cap under the refresh, so now I'm running set com_engineHz 100 in 120hz mode with gsync enabled.

But anyway, this doesn't seem to cause the engine to speed up like with the fixed time step mode from the original game, seta com_fixedtic "1"

I was just wondering if anyone knows if this could cause problems like stuttering, glitches or crashing etc?

I haven't tried this, but you can alway experiment with it. I mean if it goes all wrong you can always deleted the edited file, and then it will auto-replace itself if it becomes problematic.
