Okay I found the fix in case ID gave you a corrupted version causing "Doom 3 BFG Edition Has Stopped Working"
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr100 Follow this link!
1) Click on alternate versions, and choose the 64 or 32 version depening on your windows OS version. The ones to pick are the 2 at the bottom options 5 and 6 for alternate download.

2) After unzipping the folder copy and paste the .dll into doom 3 bfg edition's main folder in steam, steamapps, common folder.

weird, it must be specific to your machine/installation. Mine has been working fine since I installed it 2 months ago.

Not just me others are having this issue too. o.o The only semi fix is doing that, but that only loads a few screens then goes back to it. <.< Even a fresh install doesn't do it. Then again I have a feeling it has to do with the new AMD catalyst driver. <.<

Hmm I see, good job I haven't updated my AMD drivers yet. Still using 14.3 and all is well in my world, currently

Ah cool, yeah I think ID probably screwed up more than AMD. Even though their drivers have not been the most consistent lol

I wonder if the 280x on par with a 7990 crossfire I'm doing Thursday will make the issue solved or far worse..

Hmm, well all I can say is that I'm running it on one AMD HD8970M and not seen any issues

Hi,

I have the same problem since today. Yesterday everything was fine and now Doom crashes everytime. I have a Geforce GTX 770 and i haven't update my driver. The problem must be due to steam I think.

I think it is related to Zenimax/ID in that case. o.o John leaves and everything goes downhill....

It could be working on a timer though.

Lovely timer looped into a loop or do until...good job zenimax! Is your new policy not testing your code with the common compiling of data to save 1 minute? Seriously? Who did they hire in John's place?! That is such a nooby bug! >O *Slams head into desk* How can ID of all the advanced studios mess something soooooooooo simple up?! That's about as dumb as driving car with very very old fuel. <.<
