Why exactly did they make them part of the PC version of DooM 3 BFG Edition? I mean don't get me wrong, they are awesome games with and awesome set of mods like Brutal DooM and source ports like ZDooM and DooMsday. But we can already get it on CD and of course on Steam, aswell as Final DooM of course.
Also the extra campaign "No Rest For the Living" isn't a good reason, for one you can get a mod which allows access to is (you've already paid for the base game and it isn't fair that console kids get an addon like that to a PC game) also this is a small thing, but the music sounds terrible.
If you do run a mod version of No Rest for the Living you can play it through Brutal DooM, or a random mod which changes or reskins the current weapons or your HUD.

Nothing, it's just kinda silly how they gave us unmoddable versions of DooM and DooM 2 when we can get moddable versions with source ports both on Steam and on CD.
Yes, the Steam version of the IDTech games like DooM, Heretic and Hexon are compatible with the source ports.
Same with the Steam version of RoTT classic being compatible with WinRoTT.

I think they were included as a bonus and a bonus incentive for releasing No Rest for the Living. Also you can pretty much do everything source port wise with the BFG iwads that you can do with the DOS iwads.

There already exists an uncensor method on the internet for both original Doom games. My friends tried it and said it works with no problems.
