Always getting stuck at the title splash
It goes through the first two animations and then just stops working at the title screen where it says "ENDLESS SPACE." I've uninstalled and reinstalled, verified local game cahe. The verification noted that I was missing one file but it didn't help anything.

It does take some time to load, even on a faster pc. Have you tried leaving it there for 5-10 mins to make sure it just isn't taking an exorbant amount of time to load?
BokChoiFresh Nov 18, 2012 @ 10:03am
Yeah! I've left it alone for like 30 minutes and it didn't load. Ever.
I think I'm going to try to just leave it for an hour next time. See how that goes.

On which OS are you playing?

Windows 7
Specs are no problem.

Can you make sure you have VC 2010 installed properly (you have to restart your PC to complete installation). Also, if you are using Comodo Firewall, try to enable "Game Mode". And, try to launch Endless Space with the "-novideo" command (Right click on the game > Properties > Set launch option).

I had the same problem, tried those things and it didn't work. It was mentioned to verify the integrity of the game cache in another thread for another problem, so I thought maybe that could fix this too. I tried that and it solved it for me, i guess there was 2 files that failed to verify. If the above doesn't work for you, you could try that.

Sorry for the bump, but I have recently upgraded my OS and I am having this problem. When trying to manually install vcredist, it states I already have newer version.

A newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been detected on the machine.

I have been playing this game for years, have around 1000 hours in and this is the first time I have ever had issues. The only changes to my system were the upgrade to the Win10 Anniversary Edition (never had issues with Win10 prior) and the updated GEForce Experience (with overlay).

I am not sure what steps to take outside of those listed here. Thanks.

Go to local data -> right click on Endless Space.exe -> Check comptability -> Turn comptability mode to Windows 7 -> Start the game from there and not from Steam.

It should work but you can't unlock steam sucess anymore.

This did nothing. I am still getting hung up on the Title Screen.

Something you might try.....I had a different game that I bought back in 4-15 and it worked fine when I tried it after installing it. I did not get around to playing it for several months. It would not play at all. After several emails to support and installing the stand alone sent by support it still did not work.
I found a email on the forum thar said to change the DPI of the desk top to something less than 150. I changed it to 149 and the game now runs...give it a shot.

I appreciate this, but I am not interested in redefining my global DPI Scaling for one game. Is there no other way to fix this?

I have found the issue and fixed the issue.

I had to locate vcredistx86 (2010) and repair the file. Thanks for the help and I hope my solution helps anyone else who runs into this issue.

Being a bit slow ...How did you find thus file and could you explain this to a computer dummy like me :=)
mad_myke Sep 12, 2016 @ 6:56am
it should be in your steam files under program files (X86) > steam > steamapps > common > endless space > components

file name vcredist_x86

edit: in file explorer of course
