Awful as in too easy, too hard, bland, unimaginative?

Sorry to hear you were disappointed with our game. Feedback is important to us though so feel free to explain the reasons why you disliked it: we rely on our community's criticism (good or bad) to improve the game and the AI specifically (as you may know, it is not an easy task!).

I would imagine most people buy it for the single player. Could be wrong. And the AI is above average for the genre, really. Just feels like the game lacks depth in diplomacy and the behaviour of the races. Ie, number of times you get attacked for no reason and then a few turns later they want to negotiate peace treaties. Bit silly.

Those games are not made to play solo, AI has always been broken, in all the strategy games i played. too hard or too easy.

Those games are made to play multi and nobody is playing Endless space in multi...that's why i'm so disappointed...
i felt it was a good game during the beta and many ppl did it, but now it is released i can't find a lobby...

Hmm, can't really agree. Mostly because the genre-templates are games like MoO and GalCiv II and those are both very much offline only burning-the-midnight-oil type games, where single player is king. For me, it's always the experience of playing very long lasting games versus the AI that is the fun of it. Surely you can't blame the developers if there is nobody playing online (though I am sure if you wanted to enough you could arrange games via the forums, or via matchmaking apps like Evolve). The onus is on you to sort that out.

noone can tell me 4x games are made for multiplayer.
they have hour long matches.

people can barely tolerate dotas match length, which is around 45 minutes.
most strategy games are around 30 min for a match.

So yeah, 4x games need a good AI that doesnt cheat on the normal level.

I search for multiplayer maps every day. In the last week I have found 1 game it was full. -_- i enjoy the game a lot. I don't think the AI is awful, but more diplomatic options to increase their status with you would be nice. But sometimes they just send bizarre requests, so I am the most technological and military powerful race, and then this tiny little race with about 4 systems demands some of my technology without giving anything in return. I mean what are the Sophons even thinking? I declared war on them to show how I deal with impudence.

You are crazy. This game is awesome in so many ways. Admittedly the AI is rather weak, but as a 4X multiplayer experience this game can't be beat. Simultaneous turns (that works) is a godsend. You need to just get some friends. This game has almost ruined my other game experiences. The interface is just so buttery smooth. when i jump to other games (I'm looking at you Warlock) I nearly can't play them anymore because they are so painful with the UI.
While I admit this game is not perfect, it really stands heads above other games in the same space (no pun intended). The fact that you can even complete a full game in a few hours with two or even 3 guys playing is a testament to this games grace. Now personally I don't give a♥♥♥♥♥♥about single player for these types of games. But go ahead and try to play a 3 player HOMM/CIV/MOO game. Not many are ready for that kind of dedication. With ES you don't need it. You can burn through the first 50 turns in half an hour.

Yeah the UI shows the devs have played a ton of similar games and found all the problems with those interfaces and removed nearly all of them, and it's attractively designed. My minor quibbles are with the tooltips flashing on and off sometimes, and I find the system view a bit annoying when I'm trying to move population around and the planets slide around on screen. Wish I could turn off that feature, but the screen does look really good besides that.

I really love this game, OP doesn't like good games.
Orbb Nov 2, 2012 @ 11:37am
i like this game thats why i bought it, but i was intedning to play it most of time in multiplayers.

i think i will play this game sometimes....but very rarely since only the solo is playable and i don't like very much to play in solo, for all the games...
He isin't crazy. He's just expressing his own opinon of the game. I'm sure that this isin't really his gerne of gaming and that this just was the drop after several other games whom let him down.
Regnor Nov 3, 2012 @ 10:13pm
I don't read his message that way at all. He sounds like an experienced gamer (obviously not native English) who is frustrated because the game hasn't gathered enough traction to find a lot of players. Maybe he's used to battle.net, I don't know, but that is disappointing for a multiplayer game. And I'm sure he's complaining that the AI is too easy, not too hard. If it was too hard, he'd probably be happy playing single player.
Aythreuk Nov 6, 2012 @ 1:27am
I feel you OP, i made a thread about the multiplayer and everything and people basically just bashed me saying it's all about SINGLE PLAYER BRO.

My conclusion here is probably. WHY THE HELL even have multiplayer at all? Don't advertise multiplayer if you aren't willing to balance it and support it, it's VERY misleading.
Really, this games multiplayer is just for like.... friends playing with other friends... and just mucking around. Since it's not balanced, it's not serious... or fair.... or fun.... just like "hurrrrrr yay built a space empire"
Harmonica Nov 6, 2012 @ 1:42am
Don't blame the game blame the players. If there's not enough of them playing, what do you expect the devs to do about it?
