Do ships in a fleet cross-protect?

I am wondering this because it would allow me to play differently and add purely defensive ships to my fleet to counter the varying styles of enemy players.

So If say my battleship has 0 Flak to counter missiles and my cruiser next to it has 1,000, if my Battleship gets targeted by missiles will the cruiser shoot its flak to protect the Battleship?

Defenses only protect the ship they are installed on.

Support modules can benefit an entire fleet, depending on what kind of support module you are using. Some support modules are good only for that ship in particular, but other support modules boost an entire fleet in some way.

Thanks for the info, that is what I was looking for! Is there any official notes about that? I just want to know specifically what modules affects whole fleet?

You will see in the support module description. It will have "On Fleet" or "X Fleet." Examples are engines and repair modules.
