Crash to Desktop
I'm loving the game, but the CTD are really starting to♥♥♥♥♥♥me off. Wish I knew what the problem was or who to troubleshoot it. The game doesn't freeze, it just vanishes when I click on an action or during a turn progression.

Yea I've had some of that too after around turn 70 or so - but i just fixed some driver/Os issues - have not tested it after that. also going to start a new game to see if my tweaking fixed some issues.

I'm having a similar issue as well. Hard to say.

You may all have different issues, so it's pretty difficult to throw an advice here. In any case, please take a look at this thread or this very thread[forums.amplitude-studios.com] on our forums.

- Zardon: is your game crashing instantly, or after a few turns?
- Tarax00: let us know if your game is still crashing, we advise our players to update their graphics drivers for overheating issues, check vsync, reinstall VC Redistributable 2010, or check if you are running programs like RAPTR (which seems to interfere with ES - disabling it temporarily helps).
- nanstey2001: Check above.

After quite a few turns.. I eventually get to a point in the game where it will keep crashing after loading the autosave.. I can even go back a few save until I get to the same part and BOOM! I posted one of the save on ES official forum. I even started a different game. Lasted longer with intermittent crashes but I'm at a point I can't proceed past. On the intermittent crashes it usually happens when I click an action, such as diplomacy or ship selection, but it’s not very repeatable.

Something with the UI overlay? Maybe have your desktop resolution the same as the game? Im guessing wildly here.

I play the game in Windowed mode. I have two monitors.

The game seems more stable once I disabled the Overlays in Steam and Raptr...Odd that a game sold on Steam can't handle the Overlays.

Not really the best thing to do: they can't help with the tech support of every single game on Steam, besides treating tickets about refunds / inquiries, client related issues, cheating, hijacking etc.

Zardon, the only thing that could help us is to reproduce it on our side (unless we/you can't, then we wouldn't suspect a bug but a hardware related issue). Which is why I still insist on you trying out the suggested advice in this thread, if you haven't.

As you already attached a save on our forums, please remember to give more details in the future: posting a thread where you explain the exact thing you were doing, if you were playing with any mods, your pc spec, a save AND your output log (the one created just when it crashes [Steam > Steamapps > Common > Endless Space > Endless Space data]). Thank you!

The url is not showing in your post. It looks like Steam is stripping it. I will follow up on this post tomorrow if the software doesn't crash again. I'm thinking the issue is with the Overlays, I do find it odd that it crashes at the same point each time, so something is triggering the crash.

I responded to someone else on the forum who has the exact same issue. No one has respond on it to offer what other information is required to troubleshoot.
I've spent weeks trying to get this game started on Steam, but it just keep getting me frustrated!
Previously, I've reinstalled the game, verified local game files, configure Windows compatibility, restart steam, restart PC, install latest drivers, reinstall directX, reinstall MS VC++ 2005 Redistributable up to MS VC++ 2015 Redistributable 2015, run using Administrator account, disable antivirus, disable firewall, and so much more with ZERO result.

But then I tried this solution:
1. Uninstall Steam completely.
2. Install Steam. Then open it.
3. Setup your Steam Library to your existing Steam Library folders.
4. Steam will auto-detect your "Endless Space" game.
5. Go to "Endless Space" installation folder. Mine is in "E:\Steam Library\steamapps\common\Endless Space"

6. Edit "Registry.xml" in both of these folders (based on my path):

E:\Steam Library\steamapps\common\Endless Space\Public
E:\Steam Library\steamapps\common\Endless Space\Public_xp1

Make sure you adjust it based on your installation directory.

7. My XML file is like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<Registry xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<Resolution>1920x1080 (60)</Resolution>

Ensure your video section is adjusted based on your own monitor.

8. Exit "Steam". But this DOES NOT terminate the "Steam" process.
9. Open up your Windows Task Manager from ctrl+alt+del. Make sure "Steam" process it NOT running at all.
10. Run "Steam" with Administrator account.
11. Play "Endless Space" and enjoy!
12. For subsequent game play, you can use ordinary account. But make sure it has full access to network (internet) and your antivirus is not blocking it.

Hope this help some of you out there!
