Map size, game speed, faction chosen, number of opponents, victory condition aimed for, your own gamestyle.


Those are the factors that affect match mength the most. Everything between 30 mins and several days (!!!) depending on your knowledge of the game.

I also usually don't finish games, as there comes a point where the challenge of battling against 3 or 4 empires at once ceases to exist. Give it the better part of a day for the largest map settings with 8 hostile players, I'd say.

Shorter than a game of Civ 5. Around 10-15 hours. I usually finish around 150 turns, shorter for military victories. Newer players will probably clock in around 200 turns

I had a two hour game on a small map with 4 empires. Of course that was because one of the ai got a score victory even though I was more powerful, go figure. Protip always turn off score victories they are arbitrary, random, and end the game too early.
