Sacred citadel in a nutshell
[(Walk. stop, mash -> -> -> x 00 - walk, stop, mash -> -> -> x 00 - end of chapter) x4 = act 1)] x 4 = End game
One of the few indie i titles i got really disappointed with, Sacred Citadel is what i would call a golden missed opportunity. The game had such potential to offer a nice pace of side scrolling hack and slash, but in the end it only is fun for 1 or 2 hours at best. In a hack and slash game the combat is the thing that matters the most and thats where the game is lacking in epic proportions. I dont care for the excellent level desing or the awesome audio, when what i have to do all the time is to move forward, press the same number of buttons and do the same thing over and over again. The game although funny at first, tends to be really boring as you progress, mainly because you simply cannot die and cannot do anything else effectively besides the afforementioned combo in the opening sequence of this review. In coop its more fun i give you that, but after a while the game begins to lose its momentum as well.
All and all the game is not what i would recommend to any player who enjoys a good ride with hack and slash titles. Its easy, repetitive and without anything to hold you even after you are done with it. It sure couldnt keep me more.
