How to change name shortening rules?

For the longest time I've been bothered by how FM shortens people's names all over the place, using only their family name or, when there are duplicates in a team, adding just the first letter of their first name (example: "M. Kamburov" or just "Kamburov"). However, some players' names are never shortened (such as Eli Marques), and I'd like to extend that to all players in the database or to people of certain nationalities. Alternatively, I'd like the game to use people's first names when shortening, with the first letter of their family name when there are duplicates (example: "Martin K." or just "Martin"). I also need whatever is changed to apply to newly generated players. In fact, it'd be fine if it's only possible to change the naming rules for newgens, as long as I can apply it to my character as well.

Does anyone know how to do any of that?
