Installer creates "matt" directory
I noticed that the installer creates a new user directory called "matt" (typically found under C:\Users\matt). Please remove this from the installer.

When I found this, it freaked me out. My first thought was that someone managed to remotely create a user account and login to my machine. Luckily, no user called "matt" was created; only empty directories.

I only realized this directory was created by the Symphony installer after comparing the directory timestamps with the game files. After some research, I found that the project lead for this game is "Matt Shores".

Edited my post to better clarify.

where did you see this user directory? When I check my users folder, it only has the usual ones there

I also go this Ghost matt, freaked me out as well.

Whereabouts do you see it? I can't see any new user in my accounts

Seriously, I just checked again and all I can find is my usual account and the normal "guest" account that windows creates for some reason

It's not a new user. Luckily, no user account is created. It creates a new directory.

Assuming you have a default installation of Windows Vista, 7, or 8, it adds a new directory here:
C:\Users\matt
It creates a few more empty directories below that.

Sorry for not replying. You originally refered to it as a directory which led my to believe you were looking at the folders rather than the actual accounts. Bloodshed shed some light on this instead of blood, thanks.

Right, it's only a directory. NO user account is created. Only empty directories/folders in C:\Users under "matt".

It seems to be a simple oversight when they built the installer.

w0bbl3r said "directory" and "folder" and later said "new user in my accounts" which suggests he's incorrectly looking in control panel (or computer management).

...now I'm off to shed more blood.

Huh, I just deleted that and thought I got a virus, so I fired up the Security Essentials scanner.
Good to know it's harmless.
I hope I didn't mess up my settings when I deleted it...

Well I found the Matt folder, but didn't see any user account, so figured it wouldn't do any serious harm. The game is a bit crap anyway, so I deleted it and the folder, so no problem either way

I read this thread before I purchased. I saw the directory as well and it had file in the folders until after I first launched the game and it completed the installation. Then the folders were empty.

So that's where that folder came from. Would have been nice to know that earlier. :P

That's nice that they've known about this issue since at least August and they haven't fixed it yet? This isn't some hard-to-find and reproduce bug. They should be able to repackage a fixed installer in an hour or two (I'm being really generous here).

Matt,

I hate to be a jerk. I really do. However, I just discovered this Matt user folder on my computer for the first time. I have a good mind to complain directly to Steam about unauthorized use of 3rd party software to create hidden user folders on end-user computers. I only found out about it because I saw it from another computer on my network. It does not however show up on host computer as an actual user account in log-in or control panel. A post about this incident should be stickied in this forum as well as an apology. I guarantee I'm not the only one just now discovering this. I wonder how many others will wander in after doing a Google search for user folders named "matt." I'm more than just a little iritated by the lack of professionalism displayed in this matter.

I'm deleting your game, and I may ask Steam for a refund as well.
