Post here! -> Mouse sensitivity issues? Help us debug!
Hello everyone!

A few people have mentioned some issues with mouse sensitivity. We haven't been able to reproduce all the reported issues here (we fixed some of the cases we were running into), so I went out and bought a spiffy $100 high-dpi R.A.T. 7 mouse. Unfortunately, it works like a charm! ;)

So we are reaching out to the community to see if anyone is having sensitivity issues to the point of making the game difficult to play.

Please let us know:
-Mouse brand/setup
-Hardware performance (just broadly, is it a powerful machine or a laptop that can barely keep up, etc.)
-What type of issue(s) is happening
-Does it happen full-screen, windowed, or both?
-How is it behaving in the menus versus in-game (e.g. too sensitive in-game, not enough in menus, etc.)

With your help, we will try to eradicate this issue once and for all!

no issues with sensitivity myself, but I do have an issue with the cursor and dual screen setups and that's the mouse isn't locked to window when the game is running, as quite often your cursor goes onto the second monitor and it ends up minimizing the game

glad you are working on this issue. It is frustrating me beyond belief because I'm normally fairly good at these type of games and am actually loving it, barring the mouse sensitivity issue.

I'm running a Dell Inspiron 530, Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo 2.2GHz, 3.25GB RAM, 32-bit operating system, with a GeForce 8800 GT video card.

I've been running it in fullscreen mode, but have two monitors hooked up but don't have the problem of cursor going off screen when game is launched.

I just got this game and am having big issues with the mouse sensitivity.

The mouse is a (wired) Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 manufactured in August 2005. Used with no problems in games since 2006. I think it's 2000dpi but I'm not sure.

The PC isn't so old, it's a Haswell set up with a 4770K, a GTX Titan, FLACs optical out to a Firestone Audio Spitfire mkII DAC and on to an Objective2 Headphone amp powering AKG K701s ;)

Not sure if it makes any difference but my monitor is a BenQ XL2411T which runs at either 120 or 144Hz and the OS is Windows 8. All drivers for everything are fully up to date/no betas.

At default sensitivity the mouse in the menu is normal, in game is unplayably slow, normal range of movement of my mouse moves the ship about 1 or 2 cm on screen. I clicked the > sensitivity up about 25 times to the point where it's number was 250 or around there. At that point the mouse movement in game was still not really fast enough, sensitivity in menus was so high it made it very tedious to click on anything.

I see this was posted in March, have empty clip given up on these problems?

I have had a few sensitivity issues For instance my laptop is better than my desktop, it just reacts quicker and desktop feels sluggish, it does however add that extra tension

I have no idea what happens, but my game just kinda skips frames sometimes and i die, or just blink to another side of the screen. Maybe its my mouse so i have Bloody V5. Quad core cpu, nvidia 260 gts, if that matters. Game runs at 300 fps in menu. Everything works well, only that bug happens.

no, one of their staff has posted in the last couple of days, if you check their website, they do have some features for the game that they are working on so I think this is a case of sit tight and there should be a staff answer pending (not gonna say soon™)

Hi guys,
Yeah I posted this in March but no one gave any information so I didn't have anything to go on. This new data is interesting (not working in game but fine in the menus with the default settings).

If you haven't already, do post the behavior you're seeing (in-game versus menus, etc.)and I will let you know what we find out!

I'll start off with saying I didn't expect this to work, but I tried plugging my graphics tablet (Wacom Bamboo) just to see if it would work. It almost did and coming off of games like Osu! it would be pretty cool make it happen.

Long story short, the smallest motions on my tablet make the cursor shift by (what looks like) the number of pixels set by mouse sensitivity. At the least the jumps got much smaller and almost playable when I dropped the sensitivity from 100 to 10. The behavior is consistent fullscreen and windowed, vsync on and off, in menu and in game. I'm running a 2.4 i7 and GTX670M, so I think performance is non-issue. I have the tablet area set to match the screen (slightly off for differences in aspect ratio).

So uh, is there .ini file or something I can tweak to drop the sensivity of the mouse further? I'm just saying it would be really cool to try this game on my tablet... :D

We're looking into changing the input options as a way around all these issues. We will try to allow going all the way to 1. :)

Thank you,

I tried playing this game again, it's still unplayable. I set the in game mouse sensitivity to 500 which was max. That was about the right sensitivity for the game but in the menu the mouse is so fast it's hard to press buttons. The separate menu sensitivity slider only changes the sensitivity at the title screen but not the in game options menu.

still nothing about locking the mouse cursor to the game window, I know cursor lock is out there, but we shouldn't need to use an external tool to give us something that is in pretty much every other game out there when run in fullscreen mode

Any more updates on this Empty Clip Studios? I love the game, but my ship skipping all over the place makes it unplayable. I don't have any real sensitivity issues, but my ship randomly jumps all over the place, consistently making me run in to walls and enemies and die.

I'm using an older Logitech MX518 optical mouse. And the game is consistently running over 60FPS on my machine. I've tried all combos of Vsync and mouse lag fix settings in the options, have the same problem no matter what combination I use. I didn't think to try windowed mode, I will try that and edit my post after.

Also, not sure if this makes any difference for you or not, but I'm running the GOG build 996, not the Steam build.

EDIT - Tried in windowed mode, no difference, still skipping all over the place.

Game is still broken for me.

logitech M185 wireless mouse
ASUS laptop with GT335M videocard
Full screen mode

For the most of times, the game works fine, But as you have mentioned, it did "paused" for less than one second sometimes.
