Keyboard controls.
Can someone please tell me what the keyboard bindings are and if I can change them.
I don't know if I am missing something in the menu but I cannot see what buttons on the keyboard does what. I go to options but the only thing I can change is vibration of a controller (which I don't have)
I haven't played the game in a little while and coming back to it I still cannot play it.
Thanks.

You cannot change the key bindings. If you are playing SP, you have 3 sets of controls that you can use. (I'm pretty sure you can mix & match.)

The game teaches you to use these:
Spacebar to Rotate
Arrow Keys to Move
Alt to place glitches

If you were to play 3 players on the same KB, these are the controls:

Note that you can use any combination of these controls for single player. They all work.

Thanks Niban. I remember going through the controls at the beginning of the game but I am up to the 3rd level.

No problem. Level 1.01 (grinding aka. turning tiles) and level 2.04 (glitching) has the videos for the controls.

Sorry if that's confusing. We added some of the controls that we didn't put in the tutorials in the 'controls' screen but didn't think to add the keyboard/controller stuff for at least the SP. If we have time we may also add a config file that allows you to change them. We chose the controls we did so that you'd use a lot of "modifier" keys which helps if you're playing with multiple players on the same keyboard (avoids key conflicts) but may not be everyone's cup o' tea for SP KB play.

That will be great. :D

Since you're a developer I have a question for you.
Is there some way that you can add a button or something that disables the question marks over boxes?
My memory is very bad and I have had to look at walkthrough's to bypass those levels.
I love everything else about the game but that element of the game has zapped the fun out of it for me.

I don't think they would do that since it would destroy a mechanic in the game, but here are some tips for you:

* The question mark boxes are revealed when they are infected. So only work on turning a question mark box next to a green infected piece that has an open pipe: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/777558/sp_2.01.jpg

* The question marks are not randomized. A straight pipe goes in the same direction as the question mark ?.

* The levels don't require any memorization. Except 6.09, which I would use paper to keep track of, skip, or look for "solution" screenies.

Thanks for the tips Niban.
I didn't know about them.
It's still hard though since you are up against the clock.
I was so frustrated with the game that I uninstalled it.
I might re-install it and try the tips you said. (c8

If you tell me what levels you have trouble with, I can give tips for each one. Most of the question mark box ones in area 2 (The Teleporter) are symmetrical in some manner. Once you understand how they work, hopefully they get easier. Also note that at the beginning of the level, the puzzle is revealed. You can restart over and over again with "Backspace" if you want to get an idea of where you need to work. ("Back" w/ a gamepad.)

Feel free to add me on Steam and ask for help when I'm on.

That little bit of info was so helpful. I completed level 3 and 4.
I appreciate your help.

Awesome, really glad to hear it. There is a mechanic in level 2.06 that you learn. I know a trick with those green bugs that will help too :)

Hey, sorry for the late reply. I've been pretty sick with Bronchitis :\
Glad to see that Niban is rockin out as usual :)

The encrypted tiles (?'s) are really polarizing and unfortunately turn some players off from the game. Remember that you have 2 skips per area, and most encrypted levels don't require memorization, sometimes they do require trial and error though.

As far as walkthru's, it's not complete yet, but checking out the Video Hall of Fame[www.avirusnamedtom.com] may be a quick way to solve a level if it gets too frustrating. The good news is the videos are short and only cover that level, the bad news is they're blindingly fast :)

Thanks for giving AVNT another shot. You'll probably hate me again when you get to area 5 ;p

What do you mean by hate you again?
I never stopped hating you.
Niban just took the edge of it a bit. :P

Those skips come in handy.
Level 5 is virtually just full of skips for me.
It is a cool game though.

Sorry to hear about your bronchitis. :/
Take care.

I'm going to begin writing guides.. Info about the mechanics and tips for each level. Should I start by first writing a guide for area 5 (Hydrator)? I don't want to give solutions away, but tips to make levels easier.
UnableRouge™ Jan 29, 2013 @ 9:17pm
That would be fantastic if you could start at level 5. :D
Can't wait to see it.

An AVNT Guide!! So cooooool :)

Yeah, I guess that kinda makes sense. I'm guessing area 5 & 6 are where most of the help/tips would be needed.

(Thanks UnableRouge, almost back on my feet... trolling the forums again ;)
