You know, I think I might cry while writing the review for this game. But, hell, some wouldn't even call The Walking Dead a game. In fact, there is very little actually gameplay involved (this being a point-and-click and all). But, even though you may just be pointing and clicking your dialogue decisions or exploring environments, this is a game that absorbed me so deep into it, I carried the emotions around it gave me in real life.
The Walking Dead is a game that puts you in control of your life in a hellish world; it's your story. The responsibilty to survive in this world really becomes yours, not just the guy-on-screen's. You have a say in eveything, which is why no two person's experience is the same. YOU shape the way your character behaves. YOU shape the kind of person he is. YOU shape how he gets along with other people and your friendships. YOU shape your life. Most importantly, YOU shape the lives around you.
Lots of people play video games to escape the real world and to just really enjoy themselves in a stress free zone. If you're that kind of person, The Walking Dead isn't for you. On the other hand, if you play a game to truely experience the story; to feel your characters emotions; to get your heartbroken; to question your morals; to love another; to actually be put in your player's shoes, this game is for you. You will feel the protagonist's emotions and have to make life changing decisions that you will be forced to live with them (good or bad). As you are warned: "This game series adapts to the choices you make. The story is tailored by how you play." Prepare to get sucked (head first) into a world where it hurts to live. It is by far the most immersive and most heartstring-pulling game you will ever play.
Surviving is tough. Living is tougher. Living with by your morals is the toughest thing of all.
