Episode 3 black screen.
Having some issues. Yesterday I fired up the game to work through my 'save Doug' file before the new EP, and starting episode 3 is an impossibility for me now. I noticed Steam did something to the files beforehand - did something mess up in the process? Did anyone notice this issue and know of a fix? It looks like my 'main' game can't load episode 3 either - I just get a black screen with some ambient noise in the background. I don't mind having to restart, but I want to make sure if I restart I won't run into this problem again. Any advice would be appreciated.

FTR, I did try to verify my files. And it's not a graphic card issue, because I actually played through all of Episode 3 with no problems whatsoever.

Ohh thank god! I thought there was something wrong with my computer because I can't load episode 3 either. I was replaying the game and episode 3 will not load at all, I have to force quit every time. I even checked and started episode 1 and that still works fine.

I can't load anything, my files for episode 2 and 3 were deleted but episode 1 wasnt so gotta play through ep 2 and 3. However whenever i go to start episode 2 it just brings up a black screen and essentially stops working, i can still move the mouse but nothing happens anywhere else

I found a solution for this problem! Do as follows: Go to computer, then C drive, program files x86, steam, steamapps, common, the walking dead, pack, then walking dead 103. then find a file called prefs.prop and copy it. DO not delete the one you copy leave it alone. Then go to documents and then click on telltale games then walking dead and then paste the prefs.prop file there. Restart the game and it should fix it :) Enjoy now :)

I decided to clean the whole thing off and restart (as I wanted to replay anyway). If I run into this problem again (which I hope I don't - I loaded up episode 3 and it seems to be working fine, hopefully this will be the case when I try it with a save file, too), I'll give this a try. Thanks for the tip. It's sad we need to figure this crap out ourselves because neither Steam nor Telltale give a crap. I sent a message to Telltale support three days ago and have gotten no response but an automatic 'we recieved your inquiry' email. :|

Idk if you guys have had success with this. I tried it to no avail...gonna check integrity and then re-d/l if necessary. Also, the pref.prop is in steamapps > common > the walking dead > pack > default

Please let me know if theses a solution. I want to play episode 3 again and no one seems to have the answer. I have tried reinstalling it, restarting steam and verifying the files. I even tried that prefs.prop file idea. Nothing. Please let me know.

My answer ended up being buying it on the xbox 360, unfortunately. No fixes worked for me. Telltale is just lucky I really like their product.

It sounds like the game isn't in the correct resolution and therefore isn't displaying. However this thread is two years old and appeared to be the result of an issue that was occuring when this was posted.
