commercial games-
The DROD games are pretty amazing, from my experience, the best puzzle games ever made
http://caravelgames.com/Articles/Games_2/TCB.html
(all the games in the series have pretty lengthy demos)
spacechem is amazing
http://www.spacechemthegame.com
iOS
if you have an iPhone/iPad, I can recommend trainyard (the free version, not the commercial version, which amusingly enough I find to be rather a poorer game) and ASYNC Corp.
free games -
jelly no puzzle is super accomplished and generally stupendous
http://qrostar.skr.jp/index.cgi?page=jelly&lang=en
(he made another game called hanano puzzle that is also pretty OK, but more contrived/not as pleasant to think about)
I can highly recommend michael brough's puzzle games - I've written a small bit about his stuff from last year here:
http://forum.caravelgames.com/viewtopic.php?TopicID=35093
two other miscellaneous free games:
http://www.freeindiegam.es/2012/03/craequ-jonathan-whiting/
http://www.freeindiegam.es/2012/09/turnament-aaron-steed-for-nitrome/
I hope you enjoy them as much as I have :)
It's a marvelous, free game that scratches that same itch (for me at least). It's pretty short tough. :(
Something different (more along the lines of Spacechem, I guess), but one of my favourites is Manufactoria by Nicholas Feinberg: http://pleasingfungus.com/Manufactoria/
@Stephen: I've played Caravel DROD about 10 years ago. I absolutely loved it and would like to get back into DROD. But with all the different games available now, I have no idea where to start. Could you recommend something?
Another good iOS/Android puzzler is Save the Puppies. Especially if you try to beat each level with the minimum amount of steps.
Spacechem is brilliant but very intimidating and very tricky.
Also, wanted to use this thread (rather than spam with a new one) to thank the developer for this great game. I hadn't heard of it at all until I received it with the Humble Bundle, and I'm very glad I did.
Cheers from a fellow puzzle enthusiast
I haven't played any (too busy trying to beat ECT) but I would assume that some are similar to this. Edit: "Travelling" is similar to ECT.
