Should you buy eXceed - Gun Bullet Children? This is an easy question to answer - with a question. Do you love bullet hell vertical shmups? If you answer isn't a resounding yes, then don't touch it.
That said, the series package comes with this and while eXceed the 3rd is one of the best Shmups I have ever played, and eXceed the second is a semi-decen bullet hell version of Ikaruga, eXceed GBC is clearly the weakest game in the package. No video settings (Forced low resolution at Full screen, No options or launcher), near complete lack of localization (only the menu is English without an external patch), awful pressentation (ugly menus, backgrounds, bullets along with low game resolution and extremely repetitive soundtrack), and often unfair bullet curtains (You will have ot play this a few times to ever possibly 1CC it). Except for as a practical joke, this game is only worth playing for fans of Touhou, Bullet Hell, and anime addicts (barely).
This is my re-review of eXceed -The developer released Steam Trading cards for this game which due to this game's lack of popularity (and quality) are rather rare and therfore much more valuable than other games. Having to go through the game again shows me that this is still only a game for hardcore bullet hell fans, yet, I was able to like a little bit more when "I had to play it". While the game is disgusting to look at due tiled backgrounds, crudely designed bullets, illegible text, and tiny resolution, if you "deal with it" you can potentially find some fun in some of the boss bullet patterns (now that I was finally able to beat the first boss). I hated this game when I first played it, but I was able to extract the fun factor that the developer intended, even if I had to wade through a sewer to get to it.
I also originally hated the soundtrack, as it was repetitive and dull as the repeated, tiled backgrounds of each level. Playing it again, it's still pretty bad, but I found myself liking some of the tracks like the menu and later boss levels, so it made the game tolerable, though still tough to recommend.
