Japanese game, english language
= turn off.
Steam should be a bit more clear about wether the game was just dubbed, or was originally released with english audio. in addition to that if the case is that this game is dub, but not originally english then thats the sole reason i am not gonna buy this game on this flash sale.

Apart from the opening scene (which is dubbed in french but subbed in both japanese and english), there are no spoken lines in the game - everything is english text, if that's what you're concerned about.

What the hell are you even talking about? The ONLY two vocalized sound in the entire game is at the very beggining where it says "Nihon Falcom Corporation" and corporation is the only english word in that sentence. And the opening prologue which is in French (Poorly spoken French from a non-native speaker from what's been said, I don't know I don't speak French, but it's French nontheless), not English, and only serves as a prologue. None of the characters even have voice overs let alone English ones.

The voice sounds more like French, not Japanese.

native french speaker here, yes it's french, a strangely spoken french but french nonetheless.

oh my god what kind of japanophile do you even have to be to buy a game for the GLORIOUS ORIGINAL JAPANESE LANGUAGE jesus christ.
Riful 26 дек, 2012 @ 2:18
Dude its not just japanese... i'd say the same for anything else, i like games and movies and even music in their original language, with at most translated menus and subtitles, subtitles are a must of course for games and movies, and i don't care if its french or german or chinese or japanese in this regard, if its spanish, mexican or danish i'll simply not touch it (i hate spanish and danish) i hate dubs, regardless of if they're dubbed to my mother language, or english, or any other language i just so happen to speak.

I avoid playing games and watching movies if they're not in their "Original" state. i want to see things as they were made, not as they were edited afterwards so more people could give them money for it.

Just so happens i know very well that the japanese very rarely make games with english voiceovers as the original. only companies who might do that to my knowledge are the largest ones like capcom and square enix.

Ys Origin doesn't even come with voice acting, even with the original Japanese release.

Your logic is like saying I won't watch a movie if it has subtitles, therefore I'd rather watch it and not be able to understand a word of what is going on.

I did.

Except almost nothing was changed in this game aside from translation of text. Nothing else was changed. Therefore my point still stands.

You're implying that anything that modifies the 'original' game is deviating from well, it's original source.

Essentially meaning a translation of the game would therefore make it not into it's 'original' state since the original not-english text would have been modified.

If you had just said "don't dub things, I'd rather hear the game/movie/show in it's original language with subtitles", it would make better sense than saying "original state".

The way you're wording it is that doing anything to the source material is bad, meaning that would include just text translations as well, not just dubs or graphic edits.

Yes you're right about what i meant, i really meant that i like my products to be as close to the original as possible whereas i can stlil understand it.

Text is practically the only thing i tolerate being edited or added.

but you still mised my point... this:
