Also the French is really bad as a homage to the original voice over which was very bad French spoken by a Japanese woman so they made really bad French spoken by a Polish woman for the Western localisation.

I'm quite certain that YS is a celtic myth, not a French one, so it would have made waaay more sense that they spoke in a celtic language, like Irish or Breton.

They might have messed that one up, too.

I am thinking it could be a dialect of French spoken by the people of Ys, maybe an ancestral dialect or a descendent of modern French.

Well, French comes from vulgar Latin, so, aggaing, it would be far fecht.
Besides, this is a game made by Japaneses, located in the other corner of the world, at least they knew were Ys was located and put some efford.
