Turtles?
How do you kill the spiked turtle things underwater?

You can't kill it at time before obtain Thunder Skill. Simply keep moving to the left of area and avoid fighting with Turtle at all cost.

How do I obtain the Thunder Skill? Some of the small turtles, the red glowy ones, are the things I have to kill to unblock something.

The Thunder skill is obtained in another room.

The first room underwater, go to the left until you hit a staircase. You'll pass an underground maze and once you pass that there is another room with the item that gives you the respective item.

Was having the same problem, and checked a video, and oh, you can swim by repeatedly pushing jump? Good to know.
