I feel like Yunica is the hardest Nightmare playthrough
I'm so bored, this is the first time I've outleveled most bosses. Hugo and Toal were so much more fun/easier.

This is coming from someone who loved Yunica on normal, but on nightmare everything is just so tedious and boring. (Once again, I beat nightmare as Hugo and Toal)

Anyone else feel this way? I love her playstyle, her skills, but on nightmare I'm just so bored rolling the dice on bosses try after try.

How far have you gotten?

Have you yet gotten to that one completely obnoxious and entirely uncheesable boss named Kishgal?

Potential spoilers ahead:

I'm on Epona at level 44. I don't remember having this many problems on normal but I just get hit by her fire charge religiously. Generally if I dodge it then I can't get attacks off on her, even though that's the best time.

I'm sort of venting with this topic, but I feel like some of these bosses have been more exasperating as Yunica. Like Khonsclard. Kishgal may be bad but I feel with the thunder move and burst it might not be so bad.

I haven't tried it, but I hear that it's tricky even to use burst against Kishgal.

Khonsclard is just spam. An endless torrent of spam.

No, and kind of opposite.

Yunica is the hardest no doubt but I find that she is the funniest of all. Hugo is quite boring for me because all he did was just shield and shoot, cakewalk and way too easy most of time, he completely ruined all the feeling of nightmare mode for me. So I tried to play Hugo with less-use on shield and go for trap mine more instead and still find he's easiest of all characters. Toal is fine for me because he've got to fight Darm, has the best story writing and he is a melee type. Range type always make a game go beyond easy.

I had completed boss rush with Yunica on nightmare first before I went with her story mode on nightmare ( She also the first character that I've ever used on nightmare boss rush ). So at that point I don't really care about level anymore. I don't have any problem with any bosses since I can nearly perfect dodge anything that they're throwing at me. Kishgal is just about fighting a chill with chill. Instead of running around like an idiot, I just stand still, shoot and change position then do it again ( some bosses will act like an idiot and they will make their attack easier to be dodged when you're standing still for sometimes for example "Hugo" and "Shion"). Invincible casued by boost mode save my butt most of time on "Undodgeable Attack" done by Kishgal ".

If you feel like you can't go any further with her then just give up, it's no point to hasten and hurt your feeling like that. If not then just keep trying. If you really feel like your patience is not ready for her and you want to complete a game on nightmare with her as soon as you can then overleveled is always an option, boring of course but you choose to do that on your own, not a game or me. Yunica is real nightmare anyway so I can't be surprised, it doesn't help and matter even you've played both Hugo and Toal before, they're all that different.

All I can say that I never get bored playing with her, instead it's just that fun to play that I feel like I want to do another boss rush as her.

It's tricky. the best use is when he's trying to use his typhoon attack. He sometimes does that right after he released his dragon attack. So I always end up counter him with burst.

I saw a video that used burst to counter the dragons. Which are very, very hard to dodge.

I've also read someone else say that Kishgal always counters your burst by summoning icicle fall. Which he didn't, in this video...so I guess that that was just one of those "I always have bad luck" comments.

If you burst on the dragons very early, Kishgal usually won't have enough time to drop the iceberg on your head.

But yes, Yunica has a much harder time killing bosses than pretty much anyone else. Late-game bosses are not melee-friendly at all, she doesn't have Hugo's range or Toal's defensive/evasive options, and she doesn't even have Adol's killing power.

I get the feeling she was conceptualized to be more versatile than Adol's Napishtim/Felghana iterations, but the more extreme bosses pretty much demand having a clear strength to play against them and she doesn't really have any. So she's usually reduced to staying at a safe distance and throwing phoenixes.

Makes sense.

I also enjoy how there's a lot of talk about Kishgal but I'm still on Epona :P

Yeah, it's shame that she doesn't get any benefit from boost mode other than half damage and invincible frame. Make a game last longer than other three characters.

For Epona, just drop Burst attack when all of her clones're changing at you, it's very funny to deal triple damage at her.

Oh, that's the other reason Yunica falls so far behind. Everyone else's Burst is awesome, and hers is terrible. Epona and Kishgal are keyed to walk out of it and linger at the periphery until it's over, and Kishgal will actively counter by landing the iceberg from his own Burst the moment your invincibility wears off.
Hammerzeit Aug 2 @ 10:53am
That was a major issue against Epona, I'd burst and even if I got her in the corner she'd jump out, I'd get like 2 ticks of damage.

Rarely you get more, I'm not sure if there's a trick to it.

Edit: I'm scum and leveled armor and leveled to 45 to do Epona. I'll do it legit some other day. I made it to Zava and the burst is bad on that too, the heads can eat you DURING your burst, crazy.

The best use is the moment of three clones are about to use that fire skill similar to Toal's. It should hit her long enough. Kishgal is when he's using cyclone attack. Still I rarely use burst attack on any bosses except Darm one. Don't really recommend to use against Kishgal but sometimes (Like he's jumping at you and use cyclone attack with other two dragons above your head) it's just better to use burst other than thunder skill.

Also, only spam that Yunica's Burst attack on Arena Mode. At least it can be used that way.

Well I beat it a couple hours ago, Kishgal wasn't that bad but it was a close fight. The last boss wasn't horrible but I always get destroyed on the third phase when it comes to taking damage. I'll admit I used the talisman that brings you back once.

I guess I just don't like fighting Epona that much.
Quint the Electric Catfish Aug 2 @ 5:54pm
Admittedly, I never learned to burst.
Hammerzeit Aug 2 @ 5:59pm
Did you go through nightmare? If so I'm not sure how that's possible.

Edit: Also to burst you just hit the boost button again once you get the ability to burst from the last Roo.

I played through normal, but I've been fighting bosses on nightmare using time attack mode.
