English AND Japanese Voice Acting in Ys: The Oath in Felghana
So I've been playing the game and was kinda disappointed in the fact that it didn't have any voice acting at all after playing the PSP version.

But it turns out with the help of a small 'patch' (well it doesn't replace anything) and ripping the US voice files from the PSP disc image and placing them in your game directory will enable voices in the game.

This also works with the Japanese voices files from the PSP.

I found it after some Googling.

Notes: Not all scenes are voiced, but the large majority are. I don't have the knowledge or know-how on fixing that since I'm just merely rehosting it with the necessary files.

If this will work, consider me becoming your waifu.

I came by that patch as well, but had no way to "acquire" the voice files from the PSP version. Thanks a lot for this. The voices sound very quiet compared to the BGM, but it can easily be fixed by lowering the BGM volume. A pity it doesn't include the battle voices for bosses, though.

There's a file called vhack.ini.

[main]
voiceVolume=70
;proxy=proxy_dinput8.dll

Just change 70 to 100 and it should be loud enough.

I am amazed right now. Thank you so much! Now I have zero reason to play the PSP version xD The Japanese voices are great! This is a wonderful reason to do a second playthrough of this game.

Just did a playthrough on Very Easy to see how it worked and sadly, there are many lines that aren't voiced, even though the exact same scene in the PSP version has voices (I YouTubed said scenes to compare). Prime examples are the scene after the second confrontation with Chester and the final conversation before the credits roll. So yeah, the patch isn't perfect, but I guess it's better than nothing.

Well the original patch did say MOST scenes are patched, not all. And he didn't specify which ones either.

I'd love to try this with the Japanese voices, but hearing that not every line is voiced is kind of sad : <

hey, thanks for the tip.
the english voices are atrocious, as always, but that is no surprise. at least they provide a good laugh :)
the japanese ones are decent at least. this will make my *lost count* playthrough even more enjoyable.

Any chance of there being a more "complete" patch so that no voice acting is missing?
