Widescreen support for this?
Hey gang, anyone know if this game will play 1920x1080 16:9 widescreen? I just tried the demo for YS: Origin and thought it was pretty good. I understand that this one is more exploration, true? Any thoughts on this one versus the YS: Origin? This one does not have a demo.....

Cheers!

yep, but video cutscenes are only 4:3.

This game runs much better in 4:3 even if you have a 1920x1080 resolution. Do a test.

Better in 4:3? What system do you have?

Yes; unlike the Japanese PC release of Ys: The Oath in Felghana, this North American Steam release supports rendering widescreen resolutions at the proper aspect ratio. 4:3, 16:9, and 16:10 are all supported. I can confirm the game runs beautifully at 1080p.

There are no performance differences running this game in any resolution unless your hardware is lacking. I have a GTX 460 and run this game at 1680x1050 @ 120Hz. Smooth as butter.

I beat Origins already, and I just finished playing Oath on normal difficulty. They're both excellent games, and I'd recommend both of them. I don't think I'd be able to pick one over the other. I feel that I liked Oath a little more, but that may be because I played it last.

In fact, Origins is the only Ys where Adol is not the protagonist, on account of being a prequel of the First. I suggest you try to play both, and if you can, get the other games of the series. Ark of Napishtim, Ys 1 & 2, and Ys 7 are available on PSP

plays fine at 1920x1200 for me.

game scales to any resolution the only real problem with running it in widescreen is there is some minor graphical glitches with some of the backdrops. it doesnt really affect anything though and it really only is noticeable in very specific areas so little to the point where i cant say it hurts the game at all. Both this and Origin play very similar. This game plays with Adol who uses a sword his fighting style is very similar to Yunica style in Origin.
